Nedra Talley Ross, the last surviving member of the Ronettes, has passed away, at the age of 80. The news was announced by her daughter.

Nedra Talley joined with her cousins, Veronica "Ronnie" Bennett and Estelle Bennett, to form the group "The Darling Sisters" when they were teenagers, in Washington Heights, Manhattan, NYC. They were signed to a recording contract by Colpix Records in 1961. In March of 1963, they switched to Phil Spector's Phillies Records. Spector changed their name to the Ronettes. (And some point in their history they were called Ronnie and the Relatives, but I'm not sure if that was before or after they were called The Darling Sisters.)

The group broke up in 1967, at which point Nedra Talley married Scott Ross, Ronnie Bennett married Phil Spector, and Estelle Bennett married (or moved in with) Joe Dong.

Nedra performed with Ronnie (Estelle was present, but declined to sing), when the Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

I am saddened by her passing.

The Ronettes were part of the Golden Era of Girl Groups (my generation) that featured taIents like the Supremes, Crystals, Orlons, Marvelettes, Angels, Chiffons, Martha and the Vandellas, Shirelles, Shangri-Las, and so many more, including those three cuties from Hanover PA known as the Pixies Three.

May Nedra Rest In Peace.

Ronnie and the Ronettes.

I believe that name, or Ronnie Spector and the Ronettes, was the name Ronnie used for her singing group after her divorce from Phil Spector. Her sister and cousin weren't interested in singing or touring, so Ronnie used that name for the group she formed. I believe Chip Fields Hurd and Diane Linton were the backup singers -- the Ronettes -- in that group.

Wait, there was a guy named Joe Dong? Was he an adult film star?

Loved the Music even when she struck out on her own. The Gal just has talent.
