In one post, you say that "it's not about the other 7"

In this post, you say that the other 7 should get as much attention as Kobe and his daughter.

So, back to my point.

There were nine deaths.

While I am pretty much 100% certain that the NBA and the Lakers will not give as much attention to the other 7/(8), I'm also pretty confident that at least one small aspect of why the Lakers wanted the game postponed on Tuesday, is that they were in no position to consider how to process any of it, and how to proceed.

When they finally take the floor on Friday, part of what they will do is recognize Kobe first, his daughter second, and to some extent, recognize the fact that there were 7 others, including one who was fairly well known in the area.

When the decision was made to postpone the game, they were still collecting bodies off the side of that mountain.

So, "Kobe would have wanted to play. He was a warrior."

I'm not so sure about that.

If you told Kobe, "Hey Kobe, you are going to die in a plane crash, but we are going to remember you and play a game with heavy hearts, while they are still in the process of collecting and identifying bodies, including your daughter. Is that cool?"

There's an excellent chance that Kobe, even with all his faults, might have said, "You know what, let's postpone this one."

eeeh, not exactly the point I was making. I was saying the NBA isn’t making anything about the “7 other people”. But like I said it doesn’t matter. What Shaq is doing is great. It’s a really messed up situation.

Sure they are.

It's all a factor. Not saying it's the primary driver, but being considerate of the other dead and those who are mourning plays into all of this.

Obviously Kobe was famous. The attention will be focused there. I was just saying delaying games, turning the ball over, wanting logos changed, retiring jerseys league wide etc is not about 7 other people.
Again not a big deal. I’m not a fan of the nba players and they way they handle themselves but they’ve made it clear it’s about them, not fans or whatever. they can do whatever they want. It’s a players club.

all in all I ended up liking Kobe after retirement. I hate it for him his daughter and the others on that flight.

Condescending? Nah that’s a bit dramatic. Just thought it was interesting.

Edit- apparently she just posted (got a notification from Fox News...)

So there ya go. You got your update.

You didn't think it was interesting, you thought it was pathetic as you thought I followed her on instagram after he died. Thanks for more proof that you are a smart a$$ while hiding behind your computer. You're only looking cool in your own mind. Passive aggressive a-holes are THE worst. Respond if you want and spin it. I won't respond as you aren't worth anybody's time.

Sure thing my friend. Whatever you need to tell yourself.

Please be well.

UGA is good people. He’s also a Laker, Kobe, and NBA fan. I understand what’s going on just fine. there’s personal bias attached to this but the most important factor is 9 people are dead. It is what it is.

I generally agree with this.

And my post is that what the Lakers do the next time they take court is impacted, to at least some degree, by those 8 other people. Because it is the Lakers, and the LA community, that are most directly impacted by this tragedy.

Remember, the last time an NBA game was canceled, was after the Boston Marathon bombing.

No NBA players were killed that day, but members of the community were.

The game was canceled out of respect for the local victims, as well as the ongoing manhunt.

All nine victims of Sunday's crash were part of the greater LA community. Accordingly, this is a community tragedy (and one with a national and global impact), similar to the Boston Marathon.

I‘m buying a signed Kobe Bryant white Lakers jersey. Never thought I’d say something like that. Definitely want it for my memorabilia. Don’t want to say what I had to pay.

I seriously started liking the guy. It’s wild how retirement can change an opinion like that.

I’ve got a friend who’s in the military who now lives in Ventura? I think that’s it. But he said his area almost isn’t functioning. Lots of people called into work. They loved the dude that’s for sure.

Same. Think the only time I cheered for Kobe was his last game ever and when he played on the Olympic teams.

Think I’m going to buy his purple #8 jersey. I need it for my soul and thought I’d NEVER say that EVER.

Oh I’m sure he is. Definitely. I always enjoy his posts. I think peoples emotions are just a little high right now with the Kobe stuff and that kind of spills over to even every day discussions / exchanges (like this thread). People (all people) sometimes get a bit too emotional/ worked up over stuff, read things the wrong way etc especially when tensions are high.

Tomorrow is a new day!

Still ranks #2 in the “shocking moments” category for me behind 9/11. I was born in 1982, and don’t remember The Challenger explosion. Easily the most shocking celebrity death. Probably wouldn’t have stayed with me for as long had Gianna not also died as well. This tragedy has caused me to hug my own daughter a little tighter this past year. God bless the Bryant family today and any other families out there who have suffered through similar tragedies.

Wasn't it about this time last year we started to hear about this. I think about this time 1235pm there were unconfirmed reports, but by about maybe 130pm we knew for sure.

This is one of those moments that you remember right where you were when you found out. We were on our way from Albany NY to central Vermont to pick up our new puppy. I remember the exact part of the road we were on when my GF saw the news on her phone. We've since been back up that way about half a dozen times, and every time we come around a specific turn, I remember fidning out that Kobe had passes.

Challenger was awful. I’ll never forget watching the teachers parents in the risers - at first not realizing what they just watched happens, then trying to figure out where to go after.

9/11 - obviously a life changing experience

Princess Di - that rivals Kobe, probably more memorable for more people; but for me not so much

Yes, it was around lunch time where I live. I was following this Thread, and it took a while for any acknowledgement from the media. I remember when it was finally announced during a golf game. Such a sad start to what would be an unimaginable year in the world. I remember Kobe had been in the news the night before, and even that morning, as Lebron surpassed him in career points on the 25th.
