Gene was one of my favorites, still love Willy Wonka to this day. Very sad day, had forgotten he had Alzheimer's. Edit: Just read some more and his family hadn't disclosed he had Alzhiemier's, that is why I couldn't remember it. That is such a cruel disease.

Young Frankenstein is one of our top 5 all timers. The wife and I love it. We have viewed it with friends many times who have never seen it. When some don't love it, we just can't understand it.

So many great scenes but I always loved it whe he told them to not open the door for anything when he goes inside the cell with frank. That scene makes me laugh just thinking about it now.

With his death, outside of Mel Brooks I can't think of a single "star" of Blazing Saddles who is still alive.

Ha I was in broken bow a couple weekends ago and saw him on a commercial. I thought he was going to break into camp town ladies.


I haven't seen the frisco kid mentioned. That's an underrated western.

If there was ever a perfect example of a "****-eatin' grin" then Burton Gilliam had it going on. Kind of surprised he never had a bigger career after that performance.

John Hillerman (Howard Johnson) is still alive as well.

But I was thinking the top billed stars of the movie - Cleavon Little (who was from Chickasha), Madeline Khan, Alex Karras, and Harvey Korman.

Perhaps Gov. LePetomane will outlive us all. (If you don't know who the real "LePetomane" was, it's worth looking up. At one time, he was the highest grossing performer in Europe.)

I read in one of the obits that Mel Brooks recently argued that Blazing Saddles was the funniest movie of all time. I couldn't argue against it, especially for the times in which it was released. Even the name: Blazing. Saddles. Laugh my blazing *** off.

"Anybody got a dime?" Consider how many lines from that movie still make us laugh when people quote them. "I've got an emergency execution." "Sorry, I can't possibly work you in until next Tuesday."

I remember a bunch of us in school going to see Young Frankenstein in the theater several times. It runs a close second for funniest ever.
