Wes was a good friend and a great Bulldog. I had the pleasure of getting to know him through this board, and he posted here from the early days, first as arnold then futaba. He was as sharp and sarcastic in real life as he was on this board, and he and I shared many laughs over the years talking about Mississippi State sports. I hope to see him again down the road.

Very sad and his real name sounds familiar. I'm not sure if he was there or not from 2007-2011. I feel like I saw the name Ammons though. He doesn't look familiar. Well written obituary.

Oh man. My wife came home yesterday and told me about him. Said he was such an asset to MSU. Would have loved to have worked with him.

Didn't know it was futba.

I met him once through you HD.

The Bama game you and I went to together in 09. You saw him under the east side and said "whatever you do, do not refer to yourself or him by your sps screen names. He's weird like that." the first thing the guy says to me is "good to meet you, I'm Futaba." I don't know why, but that threw me off. I felt like he was looking at me thinking what an *******.

Seemed like a likable guy. My memory of him is exactly his obit. picture.

he was s great guy and personal friend. His influence was felt among countless students. A great teacher at both MSU and even EMCC along with his advising duties. He was a great encouragement to many. I'll miss our friend.

A terrible loss for the MSU family. He was a great friend, neighbor, and advisor. He just told you how it is and that was that. If anyone had trouble, you saw him. He helped me get my **** together and I'm sure many others. He was at every ballgame and visited every tailgate.

He never once told me he was Futaba. Full of surprises, Wes. RIP.

Very sad... Knew him well at one point in my life. Whoever wrote that obit described him perfectly. Man, he could tell some great stories about MSU athletics. He had an incredible memory for the specifics of every event... Especially politics. What a loss.

One time I called him "futaberal" because I thought he sounded like a commie pinko arguing a point. He did not like that AT ALL. After reading his obit, I understand. I totally whiffed on that one.

I just remembered his greatest legacy. I am about 99 percent positive it was him who revealed the nickname Peaches.

He taught me Poly-sci my first year (2000-junior)at State. I remember the first day, he opened the class by writing on the board, "Poly....meaning, many. And Tics, meaning parasites." Hence politicians What a great dude

He was my very first professor in my first class on my first day at State in 2005.

I had no idea he posted here.

This sucks. Waaaaaay too young.

I remember when he did. Blue blew a gasket ragging him. Funny, I consider peaches a friend now. Life. RIP, big guy.

One of his more recent posts was to say RIP to another Bulldog lost too early, Conley Earls.

You just never know.

RIP, futaba - you seemed like a damn good Bulldog.

That would be correct, which ranks right up there with Trent Lott steps down for me. Not only did he reveal the name, but how he got it.

Wow. My first teacher in my first class at State in 2008. US Govt MWF 9am. Loved his class and had to argue with my roommate on why Wes Ammon was better that his govt teacher Whit Waide. Had no idea he posted on SPS. Though, I read SPS often in his class in that Allen Hall auditorium. Saw him at many a baseball game walking around the outfield with a couple young kids. Always chatted him up. May he rest in peace. God bless his family.

Very sad news, my condolences to his family!

I was one of the many kids he set straight. Had to talk to him about my grades & where l wanted to go with my education back in the day. He guided me, excellent & dedicated State fan & even a better human being. Wes will be extremely missed!

Dang. Had him for US Gov as an elective. One of the few classes I continuously looked forward to going to. He was always interesting and genuine. RIP.
