Kwantivous Johnson

Gaye is a possible first round guy. One of the best in the country. We're fine.

Gaye is good but Johnson should have been able to delay him more. Charles Cross is the real deal at LT but Johnson repeatedly allowed his man to beat him rushing KJ throws. We get that fixed and we will be real good this year!

I was looking through LSU’s roster this morning, and I was shocked to find that Gaye was a 3* and I believe their lowest rated starter from a recruiting standpoint. Talk about a kid that’s put in the work

He did. You have to look past a couple plays but he held his own more than he didn't. Gaye had 1 sack.

Gaye immigrated from Gambia at 12 years old. 6'6" 260 and still learning the game. He was very coveted out of JC. #2 JC DL.

Dolla Bill is going to be fine. He was up against an NFL first rounder and likely the most athletic Defensive End in the country.
If you watch the tape, Johnson got the best of him on several plays.
Teaching moments, no doubt. Johnson is going to keep getting better.

Both teams benefitted from holding never being called. On one of our Td throws I was sure it was coming back for holding against Gaye

You have got to realize every player on that field is going to improve every game. They will address those issues. Hell...the improved from the first quarter to the 4th quarter drastically i thought. I know every other team will improve also but I feel like we are in a very good position.

Speaking of center - did we change centers, or did he change how he was snapping the ball? I need to go watch the replay but I swear he was using a dead snap in the 2nd half, but not in the 1st.

leach is going to do exactly what freeze did against saban, but leach will unashamedly do it 60 times in a game.

A lot of the improvement we saw against Gaye throughout the game came simply as a result of our offensive play calling. With all that passing, DB's aren't the only ones gassed. The D-linemen are as well. It's one thing to play run defense, coming out of a stance and holding your block until you can shed the blocker and then make the tackle, but the pursuit it takes play after play after play, to rush a mobile QB is exhausting. 60 of our 76 total plays were pass attempts. Conversely it works in our O-lines favor pass-blocking all day as opposed to having to run block and move big bodies down field. Gaye was worn out, I can promise you.

A couple of times though Dolla Bill looked a traffic cone out there. What was funny is that Leach never used a back or TE to double team Gaye. Just get the ball out faster. Awesome
