Well, if Cal doesn't go 40-0 he may be next. Then we could finally go after Crean and offer him a lifetime contract with a billion dollar buyout.

Its hunting season for coaches, comes every year in March and runs through April
This year looks likes the firing is starting first in the SEC

SEC is on the upswing. Some of these programs don't want to be left behind, maybe they'll get someone who's a winner.

I would think that Mississippi St would be one of the worst high major jobs to have. The best they could hope for is someone who is competitive every so often. Stansbury was a good fit. If a coach comes in and does an exceptional job they will get plucked by a school with more resources. This would be a good job for a young coach to be seasoned a little bit, but I don't think there are a lot of AD's who set out to hire a coach who is going to use the school's program as a stepping stone to something bigger.

Basically, Mississippi State was stupid. They thought they could do better than Stansbury specifically because Stansbury made them better. So what do they do? Get rid of the only reason they had any success at all. Smart move.

Crean to UK! He'd make Tubby look like Mr. Popular.

It's a done deal. Crean is just waiting to ink the deal.

The final four doubles as a coaching convention. Every coach of every stripe will be there. This makes interviewing easy on both schools and coaches over that weekend.

Well good on state for setting an error every one else could see immediately. Ray was an assistant on Clemson's team when he was hired. (A Clemson team that finished 16-15 that season). So they are far from too good to hire an assistant for that job. It's paynes job to lose, unless he gets greedy and wants money for assistants and recruiting. There's only so much money not earmarked for football.
