Cal, the guy we all hate and who can’t coach, bent Pitino over regularly and repeatedly when RP was at UL. Cal, the guy we all hate and who can’t coach, is the reason Rick ever started cheating in the first place. Let that one sink in….

3,2,1….. Go! Pitino cultist, let the excuses fly!
You are confusing the cal that felt he still had something to prove and strived to be the best in the game. His ability to recruit and allowing players to play freely and out talent the other team was a great model for a bit, just like pitinos bombinos, but other teams adjust and as a coach you have to counter. Cal has never countered, and honestly not sure he knows how. He is in over his head but still arrogant enough to not realize it. He is a shell of his former self and one of the worst, if not the worst D1 coach in todays game. Pitino on his worst day could coach circles around this fraud. Sure cal kicked his *** at UK with all the super rosters we had but had the rosters been reversed pitino would have beaten cal twice as badly.

1 championship 30 years ago isn’t gonna live up to 🐐 talks. He isn’t even in the top 10 best coach ever argument. You Pitino cultists are mind blowing.
I'm not a Pitino cultists, but if you don't acknowledge and respect what that man did for UK basketball, you must be a Pitino hater.

Did you see what the man did at UK during his tenure?

The man literally re-built a dynasty from the dust and ashes of another incompetent coaching hire.

Coaching at UL is not in the same stratosphere as coaching at UK.

My question to all you Pitino cultist, what has Rick accomplished to make him the best? Michael Jordan is the goat because he is 6-0 in the finals. To be the best in something, you have to actually have to have something backing it up. Not because a paid commentator said it one night on ESPN or because a former player said so. I suspect I won’t get answers, more so excuses. Out of all of you, are there one person with actual stats, facts or anything at all to back up the claim besides someone saying it instead of providing reasoning??

Answer is he didn’t have those players because they didn’t want to play for him.
Because he was at a commuter school instead of the flagship. Despite that pitino still won a championship in 13 with his rag doll group. Don’t give me the vacated crap, the game still took place and pitino and the DB’s won.

Even an older Pitino could come back to UK and recruit the talent needed to compete and win a championship. Cal is seemingly the one the top players don’t want to play for anymore. Next years class is now the anomaly, not the norm.

So that makes him the 🐐? Sure thing, Richard.

Never said he was the 🐐 but he is certainly one of the best. I’d venture to guess had he never left UK and stayed the face of our program as K did Duke them yes he likely may be revered as the best ever. Certainly right there with K on accomplishments if not more. He certainly meant it when he said leaving UK was the biggest mistake he ever made, he knows what that cost him in the grand scheme of things.

Rick is a really good coach, but do we really want him on the sidelines riding a rascal looking up cheerleader's skirts?
Look we are all aging, but he is elderly, and this job is too much for younger people sometimes.
Let's not turn into Louisville and keep trying to relive the past.

The next "Pitino" is out there, we just have to find him.

With all the threads lately wanting Pitino back, I’ve began to think about his UK tenure and UL tenure. Anyone remember UL 2011 loss to Morehead State? If I’m remembering correctly, it was a 13 over a 4 seed.

So with that being said, can we quit saying, “Oh Rick would have this team in the final four” or “Rick won with less talent.”

Rick is a good, not great coach that has had his fair share of bad losses. How quickly some here forget.

PS:I hate Cal and anything associated with him.
That happens to all coaches. Remember Lehigh and Mercer?

That’s literally the leg y’all stand on regarding Pitino. “If he would have stayed at Uk he would have won 7-8 championships”

No he wouldn’t and no he isn’t one of the best.

I would never want Pitino back. He certainly is a better coach but that ship has sailed and too much bad blood. What is more interesting is the fact that we are even discussing this shows how bad of a basketball coach we truly have.

I watched the Iona game last night, and he has that team playing so far over it's skill level that it's hard to believe. They were swarming everywhere all over the court. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Iona makes the second weekend.
It was easy to look that way playing the last place team in the conference that went on a fluke run to the title game. If they win a game or two, then I'll give Pitino credit. Until then he is doing the same thing that Tim Cluess, Jeff Ruland and Tim Welsh did before him, take Iona to MAAC Tournament championships and then lose the next game in the NCAA Tournament. Iona has been a consistently good program for their league and level, so lets not make it out like Pitino took a job at a school that had never been to the NCAA Tournament before.

No, Pitino is a great coach. He is the best college coach in my lifetime, and I go back to the early 70s. He wins everywhere he goes. I would like to see him take the St. John's job and get them back in the national picture before he retires. I watched the Iona game last night, and he has that team playing so far over it's skill level that it's hard to believe. They were swarming everywhere all over the court. Well you must have slept through my coach
Adolph Rupp Pitino couldn’t carry his jock and he had morals
