Zipp is nuts and contradicts his own moronic logic half the time. I've also heard he's a peadophile.

That person referenced above (I will not type his handle!) is the epitome of a fanatical and delusional person about all things ul, except the arena, where he is pretty much spot-on. So many layers of issues at that university, maybe he justifies his general zealotry by calling out the truth on the arena, that is my take, I am an amateur psychologist

"Since the game doesn't matter that much, I'd be open to dropping LPT. Not because we can't beat them, but because we have more to lose than they do. Every time we play them, it's another Super Bowl. We mean a lot more on their schedule than they mean on ours."

Shouldn't be too difficult to guess who said this...

Has to be Zipp or Rhodes

they should be questioning, that only two teams that are in top 25 they have played and lost both of them..the rest has been cupcakes, if I was them I would be upset with my coach for this idiotic scheduling

I would be willing to bet that the OP was at UK about the same time as I was, late 80s/early 90s?

I was a huge Pitino fan back in the those days and have had a lot of animosity for him since he has been at UL, but at some point all that hate will eat you up. I still feel the betrayal, but we have the best coach in the business right now. Enjoy your team OP, not worth getting all worked up about RP.
You would lose the bet

"The Zipper," I cheated. I was on their board after the game and read his comments. I really think he needs to change "LPT" to "K'sPT" when speaking of the Dirty Birds.

Does that include the 93 Final four? The 96 Final four/Championship? The 97 Final four/Runner Up? The 92-95 SEC championships? The 97 SEC championship? I by no means defend or condone his classless actions upon exiting the Rupp Arena floor, but for the love of civility lets dispense with the histrionics and show some perspective here. The man you're so quick to pillory by all manner of obnoxious epithets and hyperbolic rhetoric brought this program back from the depths of NCAA sanctions and national shame, on top of recruiting and coaching the greatest UK team to ever put on the blue and white jerseys, (horrible denim and all.)

You don't have to like the man to respect what he did during his time here.

Rick sure does some strange stuff now, wonder what he did while he was here that we don't know about or choose to ignore. I think the banner should stay up there. I hope he leaves coaching soon because you just don't know where his strange behavior will lead, he says outlandish stuff and ducks the media after losses. He isn't handling the last years of his career very well. He would have been better off at someplace other than UL

I'm all for keeping what happens on and off the court out of the determination, but at what point does the extracurricular stuff become an issue. Sometimes the good is outweighed by the bad and perhaps we are approaching that point.

Winning games shouldn't shield him from being held accountable for the terrible person that he is . You need some balance in your life when sports success overrides everything . We are not Louisville who has no standards , it's just try to win at any cost . A coach throwing the finger in Rupp has no place in that building , he's a disgrace and a liar .

That last part definitely did surprise me out of him. He shouldn't have done it in that building certainly.

We used to need them on all of our schedules (all sports). Those days are over. For sure, I think we spell out our terms to continue the series, starting with when this game is played on the schedule.

Too much LPT blue in Bailout Arena every other year. Won't be at all unhappy to see that end as well. They can show up for the NCAA tourney every few years, and I can sell them my tix at a big markup.

"Elite program", my a$$...

Actually, I would much rather UK play IU every year. IU represents an entire state. UL represents a corner of a county in a state that wishes the county didn't exist.

Dicktino never played a second in any of the games his players won for our program. Sure his coaching ability helped but all the plays he called we're performed by players.

Take his banner down but there is no reason to take down what the players accomplished. Two entirely different things.

To answer your question...no. Pitino'd individual banner does not deserve to be hanging in Rupp anymore after his personal antics and his degrading of our fan base for years and years. He does not believe that UK made him what he is today and does not appreciate the university. As for the other banners comment: Rick Pitino did not individually win those banners. Those were team efforts and the banners are a team accomplishment recognition.

The TEAM won those other banners. I don't care one way or the other whether pitinos comes down but not sure how you make that comparison.

Just because you do some great things doesn't mean you should be immune to repercussions from your negative actions. Look at Pete Rose. He did things worthy of the Hall of Fame, but he also made poor judgements and doesn't seem to have any remorse for his actions. I wouldn't be against taking down Pitino's banner. His behavior and the constant issues he has had since leaving UK are a black eye that I hate to be associated with us in any way. I wouldn't take down any Final Four or Championship banners because the players shouldn't suffer for their coach's actions.

Take it down and burn it, guy is a complete embarrassment not only to Louisville but to the entire state of Kentucky. And I am a veteran fan who was around when whoever the guy was using his name was at Kentucky coaching.

Assuming that Pitino is out at the end of the season, either by resignation or termination, then he finishes his career at UL with a measly 5-12 record vs. UK. This was the guy, according to UL fans in 2001, who was going to turn the tables vs. UK and make the rivalry lopsided in their favor, yet when the dust settles, he's less than .300 vs. his former program. It's poetic in a way, and extremely satisfying. If you told me back then that he'd only win 5 out of 17 vs. us, I'd have been ecstatic.

The dynamic changed dramatically when we got Cal.

I'm ecstatic now!
