Don't dislike Barnes as a person (what little I know of him), but he does always seem to come up short. Not sure this one was his fault. Vols missed enough FT's in 1st half to have won in regulation.

So did Purdue. They played well enough to win and they did. They dominated 3-4 of the game.

I missed most of the game but I take it from the final score that UT didn't play much defense.

Actually they really got after it in the second half. The free throws they missed in the first half 9 misses killed them.

Yes. There appeared to be no body contact and he did not hit the hand. But Tennessee missed enough foul shots to win two games. That is not on the coach either. It's just a shame that SEC teams can't get up for other teams like they can for Kentucky. And to stay on officiating, Florida State's big man had two fouls almost as soon as he walked out of the locker room. They want Gonzaga in the final four. They need a West coast presence.

looked like a flyby to me. Might have been slight contact on the leg after the ball had left his hand. And slight contact after the ball is released is technically a foul, but you won't see it called much in that situation.

There was definitely contact. You might be able to argue that it wasn't enough to warrant a call, and I would certainly agree with you that the rule should be changed to reflect that after the ball is released that it should no longer be a shooting foul. Still, there was definitely contact, and in reality if it is a foul at in point in the game it should be a foul at the end as well.
