As much as I hate to say it, if it works and the refs fall for it, then you FLOP all day long. The job of the coach is to coach his team to win. Coaches argue calls that they know were not incorrect, but do it just to get in the ear of the official. It's smart coaching IMO.
can't agree...it's BS

He's done a good job this season. He did a good job last season as well, but UT couldn't translate it into a good run in the tournament. They need to make something happen this year if they want to continue to build a sustainable program.

That's why I said "I hate to say it."

But, having coached basketball in high school, I also did whatever I could to get the officials to call it in my favor. It's as much a part of the game as a free throw. If you don't do it because "it's bull," that won't stop the other coaches. And no, I don't like it. I'd rather "man up" and play the game like it's supposed to be played.

Eventho I despise the Vols....Hard not too appreciate the job he has done with that program... With Tennessee’s win today, Barnes’ record vs. Calipari improved to 6-4....
How does his tournament record stack to Cal;'s? Just wondering.

Cal doesn't teach flopping and flailing. It's ruining the game...go watch wrastlin, Broadway show or intl soccer. No room for it in College basketball.
Fuc! Williams too..hate him as much as Ron Slay

Is a damn good coach. Everyone that bashes him should take a swan dive into a wood chipper. Class act and a damn good X and O's coach. All put on display this afternoon. Hats off and congrats to Tennessee this afternoon.

Yes, Barnes is a good coach. I've made fun of him for the obligatory "Rick Barnes has withdrawn his name for the ______ coaching position".....joke, but I've never once said he couldn't coach, and I also believe he runs a clean program.

He may be a good x and o coach, but he needs to tell his star player to stop flopping. So glad we don't play that way.

It is a dishonest low life tactic imo. This stuff has almost completely ruined basketball for me. Is an honest contest really too much to ask for?

For some reason it took barnes moving to tennessee to become a good coach.
He's really just about the same at UT as he was at UT - decent regular season and even conference tournament coach, but then can't bring it to fruition in the NCAA-T.

We should properly discern between "good regular season coach" and "good regular season and post-season coach", because the latter Barnes has yet to prove (and he's been around a while - he'd better get to it), while Calipari has more than proven he's a damned good coach in both.

Let's not forget:

Calipari - Hall of Famer.
Rick Barnes - just a decent regular-season coach.

He seems to have cals number atleast for now. You're right tho, he's only as good as his post season record

You can complain about flopping but Barnes didn’t make the rule. It’s bad for college B-ball but so is the one and done and we use that. Don’t hate the guy, hate the rule. Flopping should be a tech just like kids should be able to go straight to the NBA.
