Gave up a 4pt play by fouling a 3pt shooter....Cal had an ultra quick hook on Baker

Not sure baker could have defended that any better. Can’t pull a player anytime an opposing player makes a tough well defended shot. The foul call was BS as was the foul on Herro in the 2nd half that led to a 5 point play. Every game I watched in the sweet sixteen and elite 8 had a very loose whistle except both of our games. Our game yesterday had 40 total foul calls while duke-mich state had 20. Both games on Saturday had 30 apiece.

go watch the beginning of the game again. EJ played well, blocked a shot was a presence around the rim. If anything he should of played 25 minutes. Once Cal decided that Reid was no longer going to be a part of the game plan offensively should of went with EJ and PJ.

And where are you coaching now?

Richards is to slow and doesn't seem nimble at all for a big man. Wish the best for the guy but he would have been burnt on layups all day if he had played more. He needs to go to a big man camp and train for the summer so they can help him with his footwork and speed.

Our starting lineup wasnt good aside from PJ and he struggled from the line. What hurts about this loss is that Auburn didn't play great and beat us. They played well in the second half only and we just sucked.

Very true , Auburn was flat and dead in the water in the first 10 minutes , but we couldnt hit open shoots and our PG had the TO bug . One of the many thing that sucks so badly , auburn didnt play that great , not near a well they did in our win at Auburn. After last years debacle its just hard to swallow .

How was Bakers 4 minutes bad? I would loved to have seen him get a shot or two up as no one else could hit, maybe he could have yesterday.

That 4 point play he gave up when we were up 10 let Auburn back in the game.

We lost that game in the last five minutes of the first half and first five minutes of second half. Brutal 10 minutes.

Who? Are those guys on the team?

Just kidding a bit, but I half expect they'll just transfer out anyway.

These threads are hilarious. A lot of folks on here should just be quiet for a week.

Exactly. Auburn didn't go crazy from behind the 3 point line which is their game. They were struggling from behind the arc so they started to drive and shoot the mid range jumpers.
Johnson kept putting his head down and tried to drive the whole game. He had some opportunities for the mid range jumper but stuck to what he knows. Herro didn't really force the issue which is good but hurt in the long run. That's was the difference in guard play. Their senior and junior guards decided that if they are going to lose, they are going to empty the clip.

I think Cal realized this wasn't a great game for those kids to play.

I thought as far as guarding the rim, PJ and Reid did an adequate job. Our defense was fine. We were getting killed on those pull up jumpers.

Additionally, the paint is where our advantage was. Because of that, you have to have your best offensive guys in the game. That's PJ and Reid, even if Reid didn't give you a ton.

I don't think anything with the big men was the issue. I think our guards couldn't guard their guards. I think we turned the ball over way too much.

Hell, they’ll probably leave.
Hagans might because someone is telling him he's ready. He's not. Richards might because Cal obviously doesn't trust him enough to play in close big games. 2 years in and he still struggles in mist aspects of the game. I think EJ stays and hopefully becomes a key player.

If Nick wants to play in the NBA, he needs to stay. If he can't get PT at Kentucky, he's not going to go to NC State and develop into a pro.

I totally agree!!! And I want to add Hagans to that. How in the world do they rate these guys? I don't pay attention to this anymore when thinking about recruiting. It's obvious that some of these guys are way overrated coming out of high school.

How high of a ranking did all the players on the Auburn team have? Rankings

I don't know what their rankings were. I don't pay attention to them. They probably didn't have a lot of 5 stars if any. I know we were supposed to have. some 5 stars and they beat us.

PJ missed some really close in shots as well. 12 turnovers from PG and PF are a recipe for defeat

Overall we probably had more guys not play well then in any other game we played this year. Even with the great stats that PJ had, he still had 5 turnovers and missed some free throws but he and Travis put in a great effort.

Nick, 1 lousy minute...ZILCH
Montgomery, 8 minutes ….ZILCH...

That = a loss...

Need I say more?

Ej should've been on the floor waaaaaay more. With him in, we were on the verge of blowing them out. We pressed up on the threes and blocked their shots on the drive. His length REALLY bothered the Auburn guards.

Without him, the guards adjusted and went to the hole finishing time and again.

He should've played more. Way more. And definitely not to blame for the loss

Makes no sense. Richards could have helped us a lot. Very athletic. Get rebounds. Defend the rim from that small guard.

Our big guys were just tired because they all played about 30-35 minutes. I think Johnson had 38. Did someone play the whole game ? I don't get it.
