Surprised the Patriots aren't giving Ray Rice a look- they are interested in Stephen Jackson for crying out loud!

I've seen comments by Boston sportswriters that Belichick was interested but that ownership says no way. Not sure if that is speculation, rumor, or well sourced. I just recall it being mentioned.
If Ray Rice was going to come back, it was this year. Next year he'll by 29 and out of the NFL for two full seasons at a position where it's not hard to find talented guys.

After the pics of what Hardy did... HE should be blackballed as we'll and HE should be the forever lightening rod for all anger at violence against womenNobody knows exactly what RR could do on the field now.... but they have some educated guesses - and even if they are absolutely as generous as possible, they probably figure his very best (on a scale of 1-10) is going to be a 7 - he was once a 9, but age and time away take a toll - and the truth is that he could also be about a 4 and need 4-6 weeks of prep to get to his peak.
The same management people also have to make guesses about the impact to the media fire storm that would come along with activating RR - and that could easily spike up to an 8-9 and be distracting as all hell - and could hijack a playoff bound team's whole story line. So nobody wants to be 'that guy' who put his team's season into a media Cuisinart - all for a guy who might - or might not - help the team
This sucks - yes, RR did an abhorrent thing - but he has been more than remorseful & a universe with some sense of fairness & proportionality would say that a second chance would be warranted. Nonetheless, 'fairness' is situational - there is video footage - so RR becomes the dramatic lightening rod for all anger at violence against women.
Let's be honest - all of these guys should be in jail. Michael Vick goes to jail for abusing dogs - what does that say about domestic violence?
And let's not forget Adrian Peterson and the pictures of what he did to a helpless 4 year old little boy. If there's anyone who should never play again, it's him. After the pics of what Hardy did... I don't understand what exactly did RR do that disqualified him from playing in the NFL? Was it the argument he had with his girlfriend in AC?
Knocked wife the fu-ck out on video. Fine then arrest him! If necessary take his constitutional rights away from him but in the name of God don't take his ability to make a living away from him. I don't condone hitting women or anyone for that matter but I refuse to take anyone's ability to earn a living away from them."Was it the argument?" are you serious? you know you could even ask Ray Rice this question & he would look at you in disbelief - then he would very clearly explain to you ...
no, it was not the argument - it was the brutal alcohol fueled - massive high velocity fist to her head - knocking her out cold & leaving her limp body slumped on the floor of the elevator - that was captured on the security video - and then played in the media over & over & over. To his credit, once this all unraveled, Ray Rice has been very straightforward and has taken responsibility for his actions.
At this point he is technically available & eligible to play in the NFL
- but from a public relations standpoint, the people who manage the business of the NFL franchises see him as being uniquely radio-active - and so far no team is willing to try to find out just exactly how big a price they would pay if they welcomed him onto their team just to see if he can or cannot be productive on the field.

My cousin was in the process of getting divorced about ten years ago. He abd his dad owned two very lucrative businesses. He also competed in target shooting and was nationally ranked, made covers of magazines etc etc. He possessed extremely sharp vision and had cat like reflexes. He consulted with an attorney and had a professional security company set up bugs in key areas in the house. Well to not bore you with details his wife knew she signed a prenup and even though they had two kids and married for 7 years that prenup was a problem. In a heated argument in their foyer she threatened him with a restraining order and threatened to fake injuries. She said if the court issued a FRO she would never request that it be dismissed until she got her fair share. These were not the type of firearms most of us are familiar with, these were premium grade shotguns & tournament grade rifles worth a small fortune. He requested a day to think about it in order to make sure the recording was clear. It was!! So the next day he told her to GFH, she called the cops screaming, yelling and crying afraid for her life. He said, she's lying to you. The cops took all his firearms but did not arrest him and a judge issued a TRO. Ten days later there was a hearing my cousin shows up with his lawyer and the IT guy who wired the house. She told the judge that he threatened her life, pushed her around and punched her in the head so no one would see the marks. His attorney took out the recording let the judge listen to the recording which was date and time sensitive. Your quiz for tonight is to guess what the judge did to her.
No one's stopping him from earning a living. Just apparently earning a living in the NFL. I'm sure he could land any number of labor or union jobs with his history. Hell I'm sure he could get a government job. The NFL for some reason decided this is where they draw their line.Fine then arrest him! If necessary take his constitutional rights away from him but in the name of God don't take his ability to make a living away from him. I don't condone hitting women or anyone for that matter but I refuse to take anyone's ability to earn a living away from them.

The judge read her the riot act and threatened her but in the end he would not pursue charges. My cousin jumped up and almost had to be restrained (I was there). He said "Judge she lied under oath and the last time I looked perjury is a criminal act". But the judge refused to take action. The prosecutor returned his firearms. If it was New Jersey the judge probably ruled in he favor.
Without cheating by scrolling down, im going to say that the judge still probably gave her half of everything and the guy was banned from his shooting tournaments.Fine then arrest him!
