Will say he loves Nebraska and is focused on rebuilding the Huskers and delivering goals this season.

Will also say that Wednesday they are having Barney and Dylan wear blue jersey and white helmets for practice … just trying something new.
What you did here I see it. Also, i shouldn't have chuckled but I did that was solid effort.

He knows the recruiting effort needs a more definitive answer to be successful. And remember there are numerous recruits and newly eligible transfers available to recruit with all the head coach firings.

It does mean something if that happened and if he publicly states that in the press conference that would be huge.
He would lose some leverage for his agent if he denies interest. PSU will talk to him if for no other reason than to cost us money and recruits.

He doesn't warrant more money than he already makes. If NU has a big year, I'm sure Matt will stay, if we struggle down the stretch (again) he isn't nearly as attractive anyway.

I think regardless DR goes to Miami after the season. If he does, that's not all bad because Rhule would get a dual threat QB, which he wants, and Dana suddenly has a QB who can threaten the defense.

I'm neutral on both guys, I say let them do what's best for their careers. Either guy leaving would really hurt the program. Maybe some coaches and kids follow Rhule to PSU or hit the portal, and maybe some join Dylan at Miami. We've got lots of Florida kids on the roster.

You realize I say this all tongue in cheek, right? Nobody outside of Rhule, Dannen, Dominic and Dylan know squat.

I guess my point would be that if you are truly all in on the future at Nebraska that you should have faith in the organization to reward your results and shouldn’t need these situations to try and get more. Rhule gets 9-10 wins this year - our leadership will pay him regardless of a Pedo State opening. Then you can put all rumors to bed - show the recruits you believe in what you are building at NU because you intend to be here 5 years from now.

Thats how I roll, but I’m also not making $8M a year so I must be doing it wrong! But at least I get Casey’s pizza on the regular from my wife/best friend as my bonus!

I don't think at this point money is the biggest motivator for Rhule personally. Maybe it is for his agent but for him it's the team, players and fans. The question now is whether his loyalty to the current Nebraska team is greater than the loyalty to his alma mater. We'll see.

Rhule has been talking about Penn St a lot recently in former press conferences and on his podcast. He’s one of the top candidates on almost every list too😔would hate to see him go and we really won’t know until the end of the season

Rumor is he met with the team already and told them that he has no interest in the PSU job, clearly that doesn't mean anything but that is the rumor.
I’m not bashing him because all good leaders would do that and say they have no interest in leaving even if they know they are gone. It’s what you have to do at the moment. I have zero clue if he truly wants the Penn State job

He’s going to have to say something - no way he can 'no comment' this. Although I'm sure anything he says will be able to be interpreted in more than one way.

When was the last time Nebraska had a head football or basketball coach voluntarily leave for a 'better' or even 'similar' job? Penn State fans will demand more than just a guy with PSU connections for the job. While Rhule seems to be well-regarded throughout the college football world, he's going to need to take Nebraska pretty far this year in order cement his reputation. If NU fades to a 7-5 finish, maybe even 8-4, he might be a hard sell to PSU fans and boosters.

Maybe NU will continue to improve and take advantage of a manageable schedule...make the playoff...get a home game...That might be enough for the Rhule/PSU marriage to satisfy them. We would probably take that deal, too.

Penn State post-Paterno has had more success than NU post-TO, or perhaps post-Solich. But firing Franklin can be compared to the firing of Solich. Frank had won a Big 12 title and had also been in a national title game a couple of years before getting canned, but the AD and at least some boosters thought he would mire NU in mediocrity. Well, it seems NU got that anyway. If I'm Rhule, is that the kind of programmatic mindset that I want to take on? Or do I stay in Lincoln with the shiny new digs and a stadium reno on they way?

As I suspected would happen he actually said very little about his status. I believe him when he says he loves it here. But that does not mean he would turn down a PSU offer if it comes. I think he would take it.

Fortunately for us I think it is almost 90% certain that PSU will not offer him. Fans out here would be outraged. There remains that 10% chance he would be offered if PSU strikes out on their favored candidates.
