He seemed in good spirits. He did say that he knew Tony was basically a short timer in Lincoln and that he knew that when he hired Butler such that Butler would be strongly considered for the DC job. He likes Tony’s defense and would definitely want to consider operating in some variant of it. He said he likes the flexibility.

He also said that he didn't want White to go, which is contrary to what someone posted on here.

He came across as confident that Nebraska is a place where coaches and portal transfers want to come too.

Also, when he mentioned he doesn’t who the defensive coordinator is going to be yet, but when he knows then he will announce it. Seemed to be saying he is not going internal with the hire

I don’t think we should think that Rhule is above a white lie to keep things smooth. Tony probably could have stayed if he wanted, but it seems he made it abundantly clear that he didn’t want to, and was going to snag the first acceptable position.

I don't know what Rhule meant by his feelings towards the Transfer Portal being different this year to last.

Since he also said we would probably bring in about 15 Portal guys this year has he resigned himself to using it more going forward?

I assume it meant you get your face kicked in by Indiana and their portal players and you probably realize you don't like waiting 3 or 4 years for guys to develop anymore.
