"Rhule talked in coaching staff meeting last week for “about 6-7 hours straight”

Yikes. I think I'll look at some other keynote speakers for a group function this spring. 🤣

Snow is Holgerson-like in terms of being straightforward with the media. Learned he loved what Tony did on first and second down, but thought Tony lost the thread often on 3rd down, so rather than install a whole new offense, they are just going to fix 3rd down.

An all hands coach's meeting when you break down all of the relevant position groups could easily take a few hours. RB, QB, OL, TE, WR, DL, LB, DB, ST. That's almost 5 hours at 30 minutes per position group. I'd imagine this meeting has to happen at some point before spring ball.

I am an early riser, I love getting up early. But I think sometimes we kind of get crazy with the idea of "working out early" as some sign of being a badass.
These are all type A people. They are jamming the equivalent of two jobs into one day.

Does anyone else think Snow sounds a little like this guy?

Very impressed with those guys. Especially Snow. Hopefully they all pay dividends.

We learned in part about how NU got Tony. Snow coached Tony at UCLA. 3-3-5 Guru Rocky Long recruited White and hired him as a coach some years later. I like the idea of staying in that defense. Snow, Butler and the UCF guy have all been or are DCs and all have coached defensive backs. I think they can figure out how to tighten things up on passing downs. I’m pretty enthused about the situation.

Shorts is going to turn our WR room 3 times better than last season.
Some people had a fascination with Garret McGuire and called him a future OC/HC for some reason, but Shorts immediately seems 100x more like a real deal up and comer to me.

NU is Shorts' fourth gig. McGuire was a rookie.

I don't put much stock into what others say. I just look at the results on the field to judge.

"I think we're gonna be pretty good this season."

I'd just as soon Rhule left that kind of talk for the fans & sportswriters. When I hear the words "pretty good" I start thinking 8+ wins good.

I was on record being against the Butler DC hire. But once Snow was brought on I felt much better about it. Snow interview just made me feel even better about it.

I think he said something similar last year, and we went 3-6 in the conference. If the team can reverse that, I'll consider that pretty good.

Both could be true. Totally different personalities. But if both are true, we're better off in the short term with a good WR coach (Shorts) than a future OC currently coaching a position (McGuire).

"We're gonna do something for the fans." I picture some sort of $10 admission "fan experience" outside the stadium. Pose in front of a life size cut out of Dylan Raiola and Coach Rhule, let kids run routes on a green carpet spread out on pavement, watch the team run through a 90 minute practice (which will look eerily the same as pregame warm up drills). Concessions for sale though- $5 for a bottle of water, $12 for a small cup of beer. $20 fan day T-shirts for sale.
