Again, he would have been good, but he has no pressure to do anything for the foreseeable future with the Panthers money coming his way.
I just think Rhule was a long shot from the start. He's getting $40 million whether he coaches next season or not. That means dream job or sit out. We've seen how the perceived stock of current HC's goes up or down based on last week's results. If Rhule sits out and just "studies" top programs, he'll still be undefeated next year in the court of fan opinion.
He’s got a tremendous amount of leverage to get the contract he wants. IMO if there’s a hang up with him it’s that his agent wants an insane length of contract and guarantee. Mel Tucket’s deal set a horrible precedent.
And yet there is absolutely no evidence anywhere that shows Rhule has turned down the Nebraska job. He may very well not take it, but until it’s definite the blow hards will continue with the “he’s turned down the Nebraska job.”

There is so much word play in all of this. Trev could ask a potential candidate, "If I were to offer you the job at $xxxxx what would you say." He can then honestly say that he never actually offered.
I couldn't care less about unfounded rumors that this or that coach turned down the job. Nobody knows and any coach who didn't get an offer is always going to claim he was the one that turned down the job. Nothing is believable.
