I get the point of the thread I just have a different opinion than you. This isn’t group think it’s a message board
He has the one of the most veteran teams because of his retention. He has a top recruiting class because of his efforts and his staff. Honestly every coach we’ve had in the last 20 years has these friends on staff that’s how coaching works it’s a fraternity to list those off would be its own post
Bill Callahan wasn’t wrong when he said “you people need to get a life”. He was surprised if not shocked about the 24/7/12 obsession of Husker fans. It’s like living and working in a fishbowl in Lincoln. If you live and work in many other college and NFL communities you’re surrounded by tens of thousands of people who may not know or care who you are or what you do. Matt Rhule walks in to Applebees in Lincoln and everybody turns and stares at the very least. Undoubtedly there’s at least one macho man in the place that asks where his backwards hat is at or why he called a timeout when he did?
Sure I’ll take the bridgeA veteran team of losers nobody else at our level wants and a yet-to-be-signed "top" recruiting class after 4 years on the job? That's your facts to back up Rhule being a good CEO, good at NIL and a good ambassador?
Wow, it's no wonder we suck! If our fanbase is able to somehow buy that as Rhule being a good coach, man, I got a bridge to sell you. Glad to hear your (sh*tty) opinion was arrived at through critical thinking and not group think, though.
Oh, and to the hiring your friends point, of course they do. The difference is winners surround themselves with their winner friends. Ours surrounds himself with his loser friends. Or his winner friends' kids, or anyone who sucks worse than him so they don't upstage him by actually being competent and producing results. Huge difference.
Let me know on that bridge.
