Doesn’t look like he is getting much PT in the pre season games. I would think not a good sign, unless he is battling some sort of injury.

I was holding out until after the last preseason game on Friday before posting.

There seems to be almost zero chance he makes the team for opening day.
Only 2 spots were available and Dalano Banton seems to have secured one already.

This is actually good - I saw a couple things online wondering if Harper could be cut and his 2-way contract go to Banton instead. If his non-guaranteed contract is guaranteed then no way he'll take RHJ 2way contract.

I looked at some feedback from actual Raptors fans and it hasn't been too positive. Mostly stuff we've already discussed.

Nevermind - it's Gabe Brown who is a threat to take RHJ 2-Way contract.

So still need to wait out the weekend.

Final roster cut day is Oct 17th.

Not a NBA scout........if Harper is going to have a NBA career he is going to have to be viewed as a very good shooter from long range that won't hurt you with the other parts of the game.

Unfortunately he has always been pretty unselfish and I think now he needs to take and make as many shots as he can, within reason of course.

I don’t fully understand how Ron’s contract situation can change, but no one should have expected him to make the NBA team as an UDFA. Whether he maintains his two-way contract or not, if he’s good enough to participate in training camp, he should be a lock for the Raptors G League team (barring a total disaster). Then he’ll have the opportunity to prove whether he’s worthy of playing in the NBA.

FYI:
Raptors G League team visits the 76ers G league team (Delaware Blue Coats) in Wilmington DE at a nice little venue, not far off the highway on both Friday November 18 (7pm) and Thursday 12/1 (7pm).
That’s it for the season unless they meet in the playoffs in April.

Two Way: approx $580k guarantee and ties you directly to a team. Only the Raptors can call you

Regular G-League: approx $50k for 4 months. Technically the contract is with the League so no ties to any particular team. For example, he could play for the Raptors G-League team but be called up by the Nets.

I don’t think anyone questioned whether he would make the G-League. Being on a 2-way is much preferred though.

I know Ron played in two of the first 3 exhibitions. One game he played 4 minutes and I don't even think he took a shot. I think he played 6 minutes in the third game and scored 2 points on a field goal. I think he had 3 rebounds in the 10 minutes he had played. I didn't see the box score from last night.

Are you people that clueless ?
Cmon the guy won’t have any meaningful careeer in the NBA. The hope is some of his dad’s buddies around the league can keep him around on the fringes to collect enough contract $$.

I mean do ppl really think RHJ is a NBA caliber player worthy of a sustained roster spot? If so, you just don't know the NBA or basketball.

According to Josh Lewenberg who follows the Raptors, Ron has made the opening roster.

Of course, being a 2 way player, he probably will be going back and forth for this season.

Best of Luck,
Groz

Well not exactly.

Justin Champagnie was selected for the 15th and final opening night roster spot (his partially guaranteed contract is now fully guaranteed).

Ron kept his two way contract so he'll start in the G-League with the potential to be called up to the Raptors.

Haven't watched last night's game yet but box score is a little weird.
Seems like Raptors knew it was down to Champagnie or Josh Jackson for the final spot as only those two played.

The other contenders to make the actual team (including RHJ and Gabe Brown who could have taken the 2-way deal) didn't play at all.

That was what was written in his twitter last night. But Josh did list 17 players on their final roster with 2 of them being the 2-way deal players. Most likely Ron will start in the G League, but at least, as of now, he is still part of the organization and will have a head up being on a 2-way contract.

Obviously, we all wish Ron all the luck in the world.

Best of Luck,
Groz

I am not light! Do remember him hitting big shots.

There must be a good ‘90s 3/4 that is a good comparison!

thought about Chris Morris, but that is an insult

Crazy stat - Robert Horry won more rings than Jordan.
He won 7 across 3 teams.

Either Horry or Steve Kerr won every NBA champship between 1994 and 2003 (ten years).

"The two-way deal is a contract between an NBA team and a player that allows the player to be called up from the NBA G League for up to 45 days during the season. The player will still receive their full G League salary while on an NBA roster but will also earn a prorated portion of the league minimum salary while on an NBA roster."

RHJ has always struggled with consistency through out his college career. He has the skill set to have a long career in the NBA, whether a career 6th man or develop into a starter years from now, if he learn to stop deferring his offense so much to others. He has always been a team-oriented player which may help/hurt his career in the long run. His father won 5 titles being a 3rd, 4th, 5th option on the floor. There are places on an NBA roster that understands that role. He defends bigger, slower forwards well with his big wingspan and weight but struggles to defend thinner, quicker, stretch forwards. He just has to put in the work at his weaknesses while in the G League to get where he needs to be.

From the HOOPSRUMORS Two Way Contract Tracker that was supposedly last updated today, Ron and Jeff Dowtin are currently the 2 Raptors' Two Way Contract players... But the site also states that the Raptors have a 2 Way qualifying offer out to David Johnson... If that's still the case, then hopefully if they do end up signing David Johnson it won't be Ron's spot that's affected....
