If the amount is what you're hung up on, you're missing the point.

Do you believe no one offered him or his family any money?

It could have happened. But the number is important if we are to view him as a credible source. I also believe he enjoys any and all limelight he can find these days. Either way, I’ve got no hate for Rex.

In what way do I believe UK or our fan base are bad? If my argument is that everyone is dirty and cheating is part of recruiting, that doesn't paint us in a negative light.

There's absolutely nothing more evolved about using common sense and looking at patterns to make inferences.

But again, instead of contributing anything you're here to whine about me. Feel free to use the ignore feature. Nobody was nasty to each other until you showed up. The rest of us are here to discuss topics related to Kentucky basketball.
The rest of us are, you're not. I can discuss and do discuss plenty of topics on here. I just don't like your ego and your condescending tone you use in every post.
You take any and every opportunity to try and downplay UK and its fans. You come on here as some sort of expert on all things and post as if you have some higher knowledge of life than everyone else and you allowing us to be helped by you. Spare me and your pseudo intellect.
Use ignore if you like. Matters not to me either way.

But why has Duke literally beat us for virtually every recruit we have gone head to head since 2015 for if we cheat? If we really did cheat we would be able to get at least a few from them
Because if we are offering the same amount of money the tiebreaker must be who is the better coach. Guess that’s why K landed the studs.

And has done nothing but embarrass himself and the program since he last wore a uniform. I hope he’s clean and healthy for him and his family’s sake, but it doesn’t excuse him for spewing nothing but verbal diarrhea out his mouth for the past 10+ years. Especially when some of it has hurt the program IMO.
He was on Suns jumbo tron with PSA about no fan fighting and showing class...1st game of series with Clippers.
You literally can't make this **** up.

guaranteedamntee he reached out to Suns to make that...

The AD rumor was made up out of thin air by salty coaches that we poached him from, there was never any anything to it. The Bam rumour was made up by UNC and NC state fans as they were mad we took him for their state. Compare that to Zion living in a 900k house. Do you think Zion and his family paid 900k for that house or do you think it was given to him in exchange for him playing at Duke. If we were cheating we would be reeling in the #1 class every year. Cal has been so clean throughout his years, other coaches and fan-bases have to make up BS to try to make it look like he is dirty when he really isnt
i swear, I don't know why everyone just doesn't have gonzo on ignore, I really don't

Can you explain how him starting the Cal to the Lakers rumor during the Final 4 a few years ago is political?? Most believe it hurt the team when he did that crap.

Your defense of him is purely political. You blindly state "it's just political" without looking at facts. I would assume your political ideals line up with his.

People don't like his politics, some do, it's their right. But what he did with that lie, hurt our team and chance for a title. That is why people dislike him and if you had been around for the last 5 years, that should be obvious.

But don't let the above fact get in the way of you trying to make it political....
The players have said they did not know about his tweet. Try again

Patrick asked him what was the most anyone ever offered him. Rex basically said he was told that someone offered to put $500k in an escrow account which he would have access to after 4 years. So it was essentially $125k per year. He said they didn't make direct offers to a teenager (him), that it was through coaches and parents in those days. He certainly never insinuates that it was UK.

$500K back then was an absurd amount of money. UK tuition with room and board was $2500. Now it is $26,000.

Also in his made up story he says the offer was made through his parents OR coaches. He isn’t sure who the offer was made through!!
Good lord. Inflation much

first semester at UK... (same as Rex, 1986) tuition was $666.00 for full time/semester. I have no clue how much haggin hall was, or books, or how much was spent at k-lair

wow, just checked; "The total tuition and living expense budget for in-state Kentucky residents to go to Kentucky is $30,928 for the 2019/2020 academic year."

it's ok, Rex... people still like, you are important
My point was his tweet had no bearing on the game. None. I don’t like or dislike Rex. His politics obviously rub many on here the wrong way. I’m glad he has his life on a better track, as I would be for anyone.

Doing adjusted economic equivalency on illegal recruiting payments is hilarious to me.

I mean if your argument is that Rex Chapman exaggerates to make himself sound more important, sure. I don't think that's news.

But I think people are using that to discredit the actual point of his story because it ultimately incriminates us.

If someone said Zion was paid $2 million to go to Duke, we'd believe it even if the number was way lower than that.
Why is an actual fact like the adjusted value of a dollar somehow funny? In the 80s 500k was perceived as $1.2mm is today. The NBA salary was 300k. That is not funny or in this case irrelevant. He made the statement today so adjustung to todays value of that money is IMO necessary to view him as truthful or totally full of ish. If he lied about the amount....why believe the rest of the story associated with it?

He probably was offered money to play college basketball and most likely a booster from UK slipped the Chapman's some $$$. But, $500K? That's absurd. He's just pulling numbers out of his butt to amaze or impress people.
Donors and boosters still had access to players and their families even after probation during the RP years. Also, there was a certain guard that played for RP that was seen driving around campus in a very expensive ride. Doubtful his parents had to spend the money themselves.
Look, ALL potential draft picks these days are getting something at every top program. It might be tougher at UK now because of Sandy Bell but, I promise you it still happens.

To some people, politics is the only thing that matter. It’s absolutely miserable and I don’t get it. I don’t like Rex’s politics but that doesn’t make him a bad guy.
Politics aside, Rex used up his reserve of good faith a long time ago here. His antics on Twitter and his constant demonization of people he disagrees with are just the cherry on top.

Didn't we all know that Rex got at least an IROC Z when he signed?
Or was that Ritchie.....or Tim Couch? It was one of them, and now that I think about it, it was Rex.
I can't remember now what each of them got (allegedly) as that was before the internet.
Trust me however on this - we all discussed how "appreciation" was shown to their families for staying loyal.

That said, there was nowhere near $500k ever offered to him. Nonsense. If he'd said $50k, I might have bought it, but not half a mil. Even before the internet, if you cared at all about basketball, you knew who Rex Chapman was in high school. He was just that good. We all knew who he was.

Don't want to defend the guy, but it's possible he was implying the equivalent to 500k in today's money.

I did not hear his actual statement so it is possible he used air quotes and was using $500k as a generic ishTon of money. If he was trying to be serious about the amount...he is nuts.

I’ve never responded to one of his political tweets so I wouldn’t know. A person can tweet whatever they want or post whatever they want on Facebook. The second you respond you are the aggressor. It’s their page and their tweet. If he comes to your page or tweet then hack away.
