Gotta love all the talking heads over the past 24 hours.

Before the game, the party line was “it doesn’t even matter who LSU lost. They are still so much more talented than State that they will just show up and blow them out.”

After the game, the party line is “this win for State was not that impressive because LSU lost their entire team and coaching staff. State basically just beat an LSU JV squad.” Never mind that we lost a ton the last couple of years due to graduation, the draft, transfers, opt outs, and are in year one of an entirely new coaching staff...

So which is it? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. I’m damn sure not going to apologize for beating LSU in red stick, no matter who they were missing.

LSU lost a ton, no doubt about it. But on paper, they’ve still got a top 10 team talent-wise. Their coaching turnover excuse is pure ****. They lost 30% of their coaching staff? State turned over 100% of their coaching staff. They got beat, plain and simple. I’d be willing to bet LSU still finishes as a top 20 team in the rankings, maybe higher.

It was incredibly predictable. For whatever reason the view has always been that if State is doing well then other teams must just be bad, because there’s no way we are actually good in their eyes.

The downplaying of us throwing for 600 yards is hilarious. So easy to do that it’s never been done before by an SEC team.

That's definitely what the ole miss fan base is blasting. Aw shucks LSU is terrible they always get better later in the year when we play them. I had one today tell me everyone gets better. I was like yeah and we will too. I admit LSU lost a ton snd is not championship caliber But it's not like they won't win 60 percent or more of their games. We still won by 10. They are just salty freshwater train got his rear end kicked by Mullen.

The entire history of sec football against the UAB’s, Troy’s, Georgia southerners, citadels, mtsu’s, ulm’s and on and on...no sec team has 620 yards passing against any team ever....except us.

This has been tough on some of my Close people in south ms and Louisiana. I wish them nothing but bad things and may god take no mercy on their little corndog souls.

If you go by history, it hasn't mattered how much or how little talent LSU has lost in the off season. As you pointed out, they always reload with the top players in the south and run over us and most of the SEC.

I'm still taking a wait and see approach but I do feel very

I love how they conveniently leave out the facts that this "more talented" LSU team got beat by a first year coach installing a completely new system with a QB who didn't even go through spring training.

Their favorite guru Dandy"Homer" Don's column Sunday was nauseating....excuses, excuses, escuses...Not once did he give any credit whatsoever to State...not surprising but just checked it out to verify

I was reading articles yesterday about how depleted their secondary was but those same writers had articles 2 days earlier bragging on all those stud 4 and 5 star DB they had. Talking about how much talent LSU had stacked up waiting to hit the field.

Yeah, LSU has a few new coaches. We have brand new coaches/schemes on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, LSU started a new QB. So did we.

Yeah, LSU had four new OL starters. We had three new OL starters, and our miscommunication between Costello/Smith on snaps kept LSU in the game.

Yeah, LSU lost a lot of talent on defense. We have lost a ton of talent on defense the last two years, and it is much more difficult for us to recover from that than it is for them.

We returned one CB from last year that saw any playing time at all, and he got hurt halfway through the game. We had several opt outs and transfers from an already depleted secondary. A walk on started for us on Saturday- no disrespect to Craft, because he seemed to play solid.

People jumping around making excuses for LSU and rationalizing this as not a big win can kiss my ***.

If you go look at LSU's team talent on 247 sports, they have 7 five stars on the roster, and every single one of them played Saturday but Stingley.

ETA: Stats for the 5 star players who played against us Satruday. All 6 of them.

Stingley: OUT
Arik Gilbert TE- 4 rec, 37yds 1 TD
Terrace Marshall WR- 8rec, 122yrd, 2TDs
John Emery RB- 7 carries 27yds,
Eli Ricks S- 4 tackels, 1int, 1 PBU
Jacoby Stevens S- 6 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 2 FR
Kayshon Boutte WR- 1rec 6yds

LSU was so talent depleted.....too bad for them....give me a 17'n break. They also had a veteran QB who has been in their system for years.

We were not depleted. We had everyone back and it would not matter if we didn't because we have a bench loaded with four and five stars.******** Really how many guys from last season did we lose?

This sort of action is what losers do: they come up with reasons why their team lost . . . in order to make themselves feel better about being losers.

Here's the real reason why losers lose: during the game, the other team made the necessary plays to win.

Ironically, meanwhile Ed Orgeron is the only one of 'em to be honest about it. He flat said there were no excuses, that State simply outcoached them and outplayed them...Kudos to him. All the rest of 'em living in lala land

Was about to post something similar. In spite of all that they lost, here’s what suited up on Saturday...

QB - 4* 4th year guy
RB - take you pick. 5* Emery plus two 4* guys
WR - Two 5* kids plus a stable of high 4* guys
TE - All world 5* kid
OL - stable of 4* guys

DL - one 3* (surprisingly Gaye) and the rest 4*
LB - one 5* and the rest 4*
DB - one 5*, one 3*, and the rest 4*

So in summary, cry me a river about what they lost. It must be horrible having to stoop to a level where you actually have to work a 3* kid into the rotation. When they start penciling in walk ons into the starting lineup, come talk to me

LSU was missing their best DB, had some guys out injured, lost some guys to the NFL. had to start a few freshmen, a new coaching staff, and had to learn a new offense and defense.

Good thing Mississippi State did not have to deal with any of that.**

All I know is I took a lot of **** from a guy at work who is a Northwest Louisiana graduate and full time LSU fan. After half time all I heard was "we're not very good", "if we lose to MSU, we're lost for the year", "we're young", blah blah blah. Take your *** whooping and move on!

The most obnoxious ones I deal with day to day never went to LSU. It’s a weird thing. It doesn’t matter which Louisiana directional school they went to they are all die hard LSU fans.

This win isn't that impressive. It shows how bad LSU is rather than how good State is. Yes, State's QB set the SEC single-game passing yards record, but none of those other QBs played against such a terrible opponent. Yes, LSU has 41 4/5-star players, but one of them didn't play. I saw nothing that suggests State is good at football.

Don't care what they say. We LSU'd, LSU. They typically keep their heads and their talent (which they have) finds themselves and wins games like this. Instead, it was MSU who was composed, workman-like and just did their job. It was LSU who was tired at the end. And MSU did it all with a bunch of new faces, an entirely new coaching staff, entirely new offensive scheme and an entirely new defensive scheme. At we did it on the road. Every historical and tangible metric suggests that LSU should win, but they didn't, even after we gifted them the ball 4 times, one of which was a pick six. And we didn't win on some lucky break. We controlled it start to finish.

Yeah they were depleted with only backup 4 and 5 star players left...

That's why everyone passes for 600 yards vs LSU when they are reloading. ***
