A certain school district with unlimited funds close to his roots at Marian Catholic in Chicago Heights. Facilities and athletes are top shelf by any HS standards.

I think he heads to Evanston - and coaches the linebackers for the new DC. I think that makes more sense ! Much easier drive ! If John leaves LA - all I can say is thank you for a great 17 years, what a run and God bless !

Told his players tonight that he is retiring. Could be retiring from HS football. Hard to see him leaving for another area. He likes it up here.

Now that Leonard is retired which active coach has the most wins?

not 100% about this but:

253, Cully Welter, Colfax (Ridgeview) 1994-1997, Aledo (Mercer County) 1998-2008, Monticello 2009-Present

241*, Michael W. Rude , Wyanet (1970-72), Anna-Jonesboro (1977-1981), Marion (1982-91), Johnston City (1991-2006), Vienna (2009-13, 2016-18), & Sesser-Valier (2019-22) (241-186)

Racki has 218. Still a ways off from those guys but could close in pretty quickly.

I believe Mike Noll from Richmond- Burton has 278 wins. His 249th win was in the 2019 state championship game. Since then he has won an additional 29 games.

For whatever reason, the IHSA hasn't updated Noll. Plus they just say 2018 only for Richmond-Burton.

249, Mike Noll, McHenry (H.S.), 1988-03; Glenview (Glenbrook South) 2004-2015; Richmond (R.-Burton) 2018 (249-73)

Sort of the same thing with Ramsey. I only went with guys that said 2022 or currently

300*, Mark Ramsey, Moweaqua, 1983-91; Moweaqua (Central A&M), 1992-2012, Shelbyville 2013-15, Decatur (St. Teresa) 2016-19 (300-112)

So take it ALL with a grain of salt.
