This is absolutely pathetic and predictable.
Kirk will retire sooner or later.

I figure there's about a 70% chance the next coach won't be as good as him. Iowa has great fan support and facilities, but the Hawks have been very fortunate in their last two football coaching hires. That's 47 years.

Look at Nebraska (sorry!), they have gone through multiple coaches and sucked for decades since Osborne retired.

The perfect moment for him to retire would've been after crushing USC in the Holiday bowl.
But when you love money more than Iowa ...

This same kind of reasoning has prevented us from moving to the next level for decades. Nebraska at least has Natties, we have neither the drive nor the desire to even try to. It’s time for our next coach of 15 years

Eventually it’s time. Can’t let him call his shot like Bowden, Beamer or joepa before the scandal and leave with the program not in a good place. Even with Hayden stayed year late but it was time to hang it up. Kirk isn’t bigger than the program and why should fan base suffer cause he has no life or hobbies outside of football. Look at Dallas with Landry even jerry when he came in said enough was enough at the end just cause had Super Bowl rings things had gone flat. That’s best way to describe Iowa football. Stale and flat

I don't think anybody would disagree with you. It's absolutely inexcusable that a coach can have this pathetic of an offense year after year. Why on earth would any respectable receiver or qb come to Iowa? Clean house and go out and get a great up and coming coach. Who cares if he leaves after 3 seasons for greener grass. We don't want another coach to be at Iowa for 20+ years. Tenure is so overrated!

May I point out again that Hayden Fry's career ended with him battling cancer. If it weren't for Fry building Iowa's program from nothing, KF wouldn't have had a program to run.

To be fair KF started from scratch due to Hayden not being able to lock in like he always did due to the cancer you mentioned.

To be really really fair KF had some non-dusty hardware in the trophy case and healthy funding compared to JHF when he took over. Apples to Oranges

True. But at least Hayden knew it was time with everything happening. He retired. Kirk I don’t know if he’d graciously retire at this point.

I think we know. I remember many people (including myself) saying that if his son was fired he would retire in protest. We were wrong. We weren't cynical enough. Kirk is about Kirk.
