One of the perks of late 90's win was reading his write up in the CL. #RIP

Sekou Smith was a terrific writer and a better person. Can't tell you how many times he rode shotgun with me to Starkville and back. He was a good friend and one of the best people to come through the Clarion Ledger. If you didn't like Sekou, the problem was totally with you. He was from Michigan but he dearly loved Mississippi.

That is just awful. He was an incredibly talented guy, and by all accounts just an incredible person period.

Oh, man. That is terrible news. I remember when he was our beat reporter for the CL. Always excellent in his stories and seemed like a really positive guy. Just awful. Damn this virus.

He was the best reporter that crap paper C-L had including RC. It has to be the absolute worst daily paper in the land but Sekou was the real deal. GRHS!

Seem to recall that He was a brand new intern when CL assigned him as MSU beat writer! Thought they were giving State a 'nobody' who turned out to be the best ever writer at the CL.

Not long after he left, CL came up with the idea to rotate beat writers! Classic.
