Brad Watson passed away earlier this week in Wyoming where he lived and taught.
He was a National Book Award finalist for The Heaven of Mercury, his first novel, and won other awards.
All of his published works have received praise.
He was from Meridian, an alumnus of MSU and Alabama, and since we're obsessed with Ole Miss I'll note that he was a writer-in-residence there.
