99.999999999% of shooting video'ed...made famous on TV.... involve resisting arrest.

The question.... should resisting arrest for any level of offense be an automatic jail sentence. 5 years or so....

Stop resisting arrest and these incidents of police reactions (some consider it appropriate and some consider it abuse) might???? be significantly reduced. and hey, there are plenty of whites that resist arrest...they go to jail also.

After all.....we can't have a society where resisting arrest is an acceptable response to police....if so then police are useless.

Of course.... I still think all policing in the U.S. should be suspended for 2 months and let the mentally challenged left decide....

Horrible idea. I used to work on a task force that reviewed officer-involved shootings and some officers’ ideas about what constitutes resisting arrest was sketchy at best. I will agree that in most of the prominent national cases we see, the suspect/victim was resisting, and violently so. The problem is that neither side wants to admit that the other brings up valid points.

So you are OK with the status qou....no problems exits...nothing needs to be addressed except police let every one go who resist arrest.... You seem on the ball...

At no point did I say that. But a mandatory 5 year prison sentence for what is a misdemeanor in every state that I know of? No, I can’t support that. You wanna give 5 years to the drunk college girl who picks up her first DWI, and when she’s cuffed instinctively pulls away? And most of what people think of as “resisting” in some of these cases is actually assault/battery on a peace officer, which is a felony anyway.
