The players (our players) were intimidated by the home crowd? I wonder if there is a little truth in it now with so many first time players not used to elite homefield environments. Just a thought.

I’m not the guy that generally judges player’s thoughts and emotions because I certainly can’t imagine what it’s like to deal with that, but you hear so much these days about a “pro mentality”. If you are approaching the business with a pro mentality, then you better approach the pressure with it as well. I can’t fathom Will Clark, Landon Sims, Jake Mangum being intimidated by the crowds and they were getting partial scholarships.

Maybe the first few games of the year but they've now played 25 home games according to hailstate.com and been practicing in The Dude since last Fall so "that cup won't hold water" for me.
Personally, I think the word got out from Georgia that we can't hit breaking balls and we aren't seeing fast balls now. UAB almost beat us for goodness sakes. Our scoring is in the single digits. We look baffled when we come up to bat. I actually felt sorry for Sullivan over the weekend. You knew he was going to strike out swinging at breaking balls.

If a baseball player signs with Mississippi State and is intimidated by big crowds, their SEC eligibility should be revoked and they should contractually be forced to finish their college career at Southern Miss.

It didn't seem to bother them when Vandy was in town or when we run ruled USM, or the other 20 home games played at DNF.

The stadium was as quiet as a mausoleum most of the time. Perhaps they were unnerved by so many people sitting quietly at at BB game.

When the players are soft, this matters. We had gotten soft under Lemonis, no doubt about that. So I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to Oak that maybe we need a couple of years to transition out of that sort of thing. That culture rot doesn't leave overnight.

Cohen did a good job of getting that out of the players, but it took him a whole roster turnover almost to do it. But then, those new players need to spend a few years here, not just be a one and done.
