Only a few more weeks before the regular season ends. Feels like this one has gone by quickly. Here's how the playoff picture looks in Region D as of today according to the Winchester Star:

1. Sherando (7-0) | 29.71
2. Jefferson Forest (7-0) | 28.00
3. G.W. Danville (7-0) | 27.71
4. James Wood (7-1) | 27.13
5. Salem (6-1) | 25.86
6. Handley (5-2) | 23.00
7. Blacksburg (5-3) | 21.25
8. Millbrook (2-6) | 19.50
---
9. Charlottesville (2-5) | 18.43
10. E.C. Glass (1-6) | 18.00
11. Amherst County (1-6) | 17.86
12. Liberty (2-5) | 17.71
13. Orange County (2-5) | 17.43
14. Mecklenburg (2-6) | 16.88
15. Halifax (1-7) | 16.13

It's looking like it will be close for the top overall seed. I believe Jefferson Forest is the best team in the region, but it's possible they'll be edged out by Sherando depending on how the final weeks play out with rider points. Beating Handley presents an opportunity to pick up valuable points for Sherando, but after that it's lowly Fauquier and Liberty, who might end up hurting the Warriors' overall score. Jefferson Forest has 0-7 Rustburg this week, who will hurt their average, but then they have 7-0 Brookville and 5-2 Heritage. You also can't count out G.W. Danville. They also have quite a few points available to them, but I don't know if it'll be enough to close the gap unless Sherando or JF lose.

If the playoffs were to start today, it might actually be preferable to be #2. #1 will have to play the winner of Salem/James Wood, both very dangerous teams, and that's if they get by Millbrook, a team which very nearly knocked off one of the top Region C teams earlier this year, came within 4 of beating Kettle Run, and put up 49 points last week against James Wood. I would much rather face Blacksburg in the first round.

Sherando is a very solid quality disciplined team, sad they lost 46 DE , but overall team has improved the pass defense .Very hard to run on them as well . They will be a tough out in Region D as long as the the RB stays healthy , he gets a lot of work but is beast of a hard runner .
