Perry is entering his name in NBA draft but did say he won’t leave out returning to school if his draft grade isn’t high enough

We do this every year with every player under Howland. He’s going to be back.

He'll be back. This was expected. There's no reason for him not to go & get the feedback. There's 0 downside.

This is just the way things are in college basketball today. It will be this way every year at every school.

Nothing against Perry because he is just doing what he needs to do. But the constant transferring of players and all of these players wanting to jump to the NBA at the first possible chance does make it harder to be a fan of the sport. Men's basketball is really the only sport that has this issue. Football and baseball at least you know you've pretty much got 3 years from a guy.

Expect to see the transfers in football pick up in the next several years with the NCAA's new relaxed transfer rules. We're already seeing it some now. They need to just simplify the rule. Anyone can transfer at any time, but they have to sit out a year with no exceptions. That year won't count towards their 5 years to play 4.

Yep. It’s good for the kids I guess but awful for the game,

Perry is a long way from being ready..........

His shooting mechanics are poor (holds the ball with his palms while shooting, big no no to be a good shooter). He definitely needs to come back but so does Lamar. Losing Perry would hurt big time.

I wonder what Buzz Williams will do with his free time while he is sitting out next season.***

He does have big time talent, but so does the bench of every NBA team. I think he'll be back.

He def should come back. He ain't nearly ready.

I'm not sure if he hit a freshman wall or what, but Perry wasn't much of a factor in our final 6-8 games of the year. He contributed little to nothing in our NCAA tournament game.

Probably the same thing he's been doing while sitting out the last 25 years. I wasn't even aware he still had any eligibility left.

I mean technically that’s already the rule as far as anyone being able to transfer at any time. It’s the “no exceptions” part that the NCAA has suddenly gotten really lenient on for whatever reason. They just need to return to the status quo of about 5 years ago. Not that difficult.

Not exactly. Until recently, schools could block a transfer to certain schools which would prevent a player from going on scholarship immediately if they transferred there. Also, the year they sit out currently counts towards their 5 years to play 4.

Nope, graduates can transfer without sitting out a year which I think is a good rule.

And quite frankly, there is no better place than the NBA to improve those skills. Question is, how much interest does the NBA have in giving him that opportunity.

Yeah, in general, the NBA isn’t a league that needs to sit around and wait for guys to develop. When there are kids with obscene athleticism or wingspan, teams will sometimes gamble, but Perry is pretty average in both those areas for an NBA 4

He seems like a smart kid, and with his dad’s guidance, I’d think there’d be a < 10% chance he stays in the draft this year
