Keep hearing how a horrible a mistake he made.

Question.... who would not stop their sister from being beat up.

Sure it was a female but that should not stop a brother from defending his sister.

Is it the fact it was a female (a large female)?

What was he to have done...nothing?

You don't swing on a woman. It's that simple. Just pull her off and hold her down.

I’m kinda torn on this now. I don’t believe in hitting women but I wouldn’t stand by and let it happen. She probably would have gotten grabbed and thrown to the side. Now if she would have hit him that’s another story.

I saw way more viscous fights between boys and girls at school on a weekly basis. The difference here? So many b u t t h u r t fans of other schools who did not get him. It’s criminal to bring it up at this point in Jeffrey’s life. He faced the charges, he paid his consequences, he learned from it, he excelled in the role of student athlete and as an academic success. He is way closer to a role model for young men than he is some horrible monster that prays on women.

After the incident - he has done everything 1000% correct. He has been a model student-athlete in every sense of the word from athletics, academics and community service.

If WAS a terrible mistake, made by a teenager. During a very emotional time. He's learned his lesson, paid his dues, and should get a fresh start. I think he won't be punished in the draft because he's been a model student and grown through all this. I certainly hope so.

Jeffrey simmons wakes up every day and weighs the consequences of all his actions. He has proven that he is smart enough to do that and not make the same mistake twice. And he is a freek athlete who dominates at his position. If I am a NFL owner THAT is the dude I want. I would take that any day over someone else who still has that life-altering mistake card unused.

This post couldn’t be more true.

It’s ok to say he 17ed up pretty badly, and then acknowledge how much of a model citizen/student/athlete he has been.

Jeffrey Simmons has turned into quite the impressive young man, couldn’t be happier for anybody wearing maroon and white.

Yes and if another woman was hitting her - I would pull her off of my sister and hold her down.

If anyone short of a helpless child attacks a member of my family

I don't care what's between your legs. I'm putting you down in the most effective way I can.

I mean, I don't *like* the idea of hitting a woman. But given the right set of circumstances, I would. Equality and all that.

I'll admit to never watching the video... at least don't remember it if I did. But I think you have to take into consideration that he was a 6'-4" 300 lb athletic freak. You would expect he could easily subdue most people without actually throwing a punch, especially a female. It would be a little bit like me punching a 12 year old kid who was picking on my son.

Now, if there were 3 or 4 people beating her up that would make a difference... but I'm assuming that's not the case.

In the full video you can see that is exactly what he tried to do first. He tried and another male tried. That women was not letting go and would not stop. It was only then that Simmons let her have a quick flurry of "speed bag" punches so she'd let go of his sister to defend herself. And that's when he stopped.

Not sure what all transpired between JS and the woman beating on his sister, but if I was pulling her off my sister and in the process she was biting, clawing or scratching at me, while I wouldn't punch her I would have no problem slapping the crap out of her.

Watching the entire video, he did try and pull her off first but she was still beating on his sister. Bottom line is, the ONLY reason this is an issue is because it was a woman and not a man.

He wasn't quite a 6-4, 300 pound freak then. That's a rebel talking point.

Still doesnt excuse what he did, but the point still stands.

.

The fans I have seen on tRant throwing shade at him recently are all fans of teams with zero defense. Ole Miss, Arkansas and A&M. Strange bedfellows for sure. I know Ole Miss recruited him. I wonder if Arky and A&M did also.

Everybody in the country had a spot for Jeffrey Simmons if he so choose.

I take issue with men whom abuse weaker people, whether that be women, kids or others whom can’t defend themselves. I don’t take issue with a man hitting a woman or anybody in defense either of themselves or a family member. JS could have absolutely handled things differently. No question that their were better alternatives available to him, but he also acted in the heat of the moment in a volatile situation. Community service and counseling was an appropriate punishment. He’s had no further incidents. Let him move on with his life.

Wow... some of these responses, we're all guilty of having maroon tinted glasses but c'mon. He made a terrible mistake and looks to have done all the correct things sense but there is no justifying what he did. I refuse to believe Simmons, a massive D1 football player, had to resort to striking a woman because there was no other option.

You stupid 17’er. He didn’t do that as “a massive D1 football player”. He did it as a high schooler. It must irritate the **** out of you and your fellow Landbearsharks that Simmons will make way more money and have way more positive influence on others than you and all your family put together will ever contribute. I guess I triggered a lot of y’all with my response in your Simmons thread on nafoom.

If Jeff had signed with old piss, he would have won a free trip to Haiti and not missed a single snap...and they all KNOW it.

Has anyone taken into account that the female who JS hit had also been speaking negatively on his deceased nephews? Being that age, seeing what he is seeing and hearing what he is hearing being said, you can expect the result that happened.
