He had many underwhelming performances against elite competition. And some against lousy competition. And played TERRIBLE defense all year. So…yes.
I have to agree with you here. In our losses last year he shot 159 times, only making 32% of them. About the only all-around (from both 2 and 3) good offensive game he had in a loss was against Alabama, and in that one he scored most of his points while we were down 20+, so it's not like that was some clutch performance.
Seriously, the guy just doesn't even look to get the ball to the hot hand no matter how bad he's shooting. Heck, I would have settled for him looking for the luke warm hand when he was shooting 4/13 against Gonzaga or 2/13 against UCLA. In our 2 losses to Vandy he went 12/37 overall. Just wildly inconsistent, and doesn't adjust when he's having an off night.
I credit him with being the primary reason we won against Auburn and at Arkansas, but I think he gets a lot of the blame for many of the losses where he took way too many shots when he was clearly off.
