He'll be good here. Just gotta be patient with him. Probably in year 2 is when he'll get lots of playing him. Hard to picture him starting or getting so many mins from Reeves or Dilly next year. Or be ready for big time under the lights. He'll be good enough to get 10-15 off the bench.

He seems to have better fundamental skills than what I have seen from our other recruits including the two guards. However, history shows that Cal will favor the star ratings even if the on court play is not matching what is expected combined with the more athletic. Just remember we have been beaten multiple times by no stars.

oh I’m most excited to see him play and watch the excitement and love he gets from the fans at Rupp. Very pumped to see him and I hope he is a major player. I live about 10-15 minutes from north Laurel and I know a lot of folks who know the Sheppards well. Met and talked with jeff quite a few times. Can’t wait to see it all play out. It’ll be special

Stop it. Reed is a McDonald's All-American and consensus top 50 player. If he's needed and able then he will play. People were saying the same crap about CJ last year and the guy ended up playing more than he should.

Will see limited court time . Will be inserted into lineup at inappropriate times, to highlight inabilities. Transfer year two if smart. Y’all can’t be this dense, can you?

If it's truly earned and not promised...who knows. Kid can play, plus he WANTS to be here to win championships.

Oh Cal will not mess it up with Reed or I should say people close to Cal won't let him mess it up. Way too many eyes watching now.

He's just as good as Wagner or Dillingham and probably has a better basketball IQ.Not knocking either Wagner or Dillingham either as both are good players.Should be no reason Reed can't get plenty of minutes next season. The kid can shoot and is a way underrated passer. He has a good eye for the open man.I expect him to be a contributor and if he isn't,it's because the coach misuses him.

What makes you think that he is just as good?

Wagner has speed but let's be real he's also not a great shooter.Dillingham is also about the same .Both are solid players and I'm not knocking either,I'm glad we got them.
Reed is slower but the kid just knows how to play the game.He has a good shot and can pass.He also doesn't panic under pressure. Most of the time he was double teamed in high school. The kid can play,he's not a joke or a bench warmer.

Think most of the focus is on the bigs/frontcourt right now. I think Reed Sheppard is going to be a fantastic player and contribute more than many expect immediately. He's used to playing with great players and knows how to pick spots. Excited to see him play!
I think he’s the perfect kind of dude we have been missing. He doesn’t need the ball, but he’s way better than most realize. He’s smart, unselfish, and can shoot. More athletic than some perceive and will be a great piece for the team.

This is when you have time chuckle at our posters. The pumping up of the local KY kid at the expense of other recruits is a given. Throw in who his dad is and it's guaranteed.
It's not pumping up the local kid at all.Hell just because he's from Kentucky shouldn't mean he can't play.Reed is a good basketball player.Far to often I've seen kids from Kentucky go elsewhere only to end up lighting our *** up when we play.
Pumping somebody up at the expense of other recruits...that's some stupid ****

Hope you are right, but didn't see it in the McDonald's game
Look up some of his highlights, he can get up a little bit. He’s not as bouncy as his dad but he’s a D1 level athlete all day. He’s not Malik Monk but he’s not some plodding dude who can’t touch rim or something. Here’s a mix with a nice dunk right at the start.

I said probably,I've only seen film of Wagner and Dillingham but I've seen Reed play.Hes just a solid good player, never panics and takes what the defense gives him.He doesn't try to do it all either.Im sure Wagner and Dillingham are also solid and good players as well so I'll gladly rephrase my comment so as to not insinuate they have no knowledge of how to play the game and say that all 3 probably have a high basketball IQ.

Just like his game and how he approaches the game overall. Doesn't do what he can't and knows how to play with other talented players. Loved watching his AAU team play-fun to watch, effective and played team ball. Each guy got his in matchups and then deferred when it was a teammate's time to go off. Very mature guy in his approach to the game.

I agree, he really knows when to pass the ball and how to get to his spots.

While Reed's parents both played at UK, DeJuan's Father played in the league his grandfather played in the league and is currently an Assistant coach at UL and has been an assistant at Memphis, UTEP, and Auburn. You know how to play basketball with that background teaching you.

Isn't Reed Shepherd a five star McDonald's All American? I'm not sure what you mean by this.

I absolutely think Reed will be a major contributor next year. It’s one reason when people including Kyle Tucker ask for a 3 and D wing(he said that wing, Reeves, and a good assistant quantified a successful off-season which I disagree with) I’m not sure they’re giving enough credit to Reed.

I’ve always equated him to the UVA title guards in Jerome and Guy. Both were top 50 players in their class and obviously could play. They averaged 13 and 18 MPG their freshmen seasons but most importantly 0 DNPs showing they had actual bench roles. I see the same for Reed in what hopefully is a good season for him and the team.

Simple question..is Reed not the type of player we want at UK.He can help us,he wants to be here and he isn't saying he wants out as fast as he can.Isnt this the type of player we want..Travis Perry could be next,do we want him as well.
Having seen them in person on multiple occasions...YES!

Reed isn’t a point guard though. He’s a college 2/3. He will be fine.
Hope so, I watched the clip. He does get his shot off quick. He seems to be a notch or two under Tyler Hero. If he can give us positive minutes all good. I thought he was a PG. don't see him as a 3 any way to be fixed. Even Cal probably wouldn't try that
