These kind of posts drive me nuts. He, as a sophomore, is significantly better than Hawkins or Willis. He's a smart kid with good athletic ability, very good shooting and a high basketball IQ. He would play more than you're giving him credit for.

You guys missed my point!
I’ve been advocating wanting him as a Cat as much as anyone. But we all know unless Cal thinks you can get drafted in one year you aren’t on the first boat. And now that Cal appears revitalized and wants to stockpile talent and let them battle it out.
I know he’s only a rising JR (I’ve been saying that to the haters), but as much as I like him he’s probably not moving to top 20 talent, and that (non top 20 FR) this year would not play ahead of Grady, Tyty, Mintz, or Wheeler. His best chance to play would be to get himself ahead of the 46% 3pt shooter, and that is a big ask!
I think he will be much better than Dom or Willis, but like them will have some things to work on (quickness and defense).
No I don’t think he will be the UK version of Steve Alford. Sorry.

Its ridiculous to not offer months ago and make him feel as if he’s a top priority.

This is what UK is all about. Why in the world a UK fan would actually encourage a wait game for a legacy kid like this makes no sense.

If this was 2010 Cal would have already offered. I don’t know what the problem is with him these days but it’s time to be Kentucky. I feel like fans have sacrificed so much under his leadership. We really have changed as a fan base over the last decade to accommodate his NBA centered ways and this should be something for the legacy of Kentucky and for the fans if nothing else.

I don’t understand the hesitation and never will. Jeff and his family deserve the red carpet on this one and it’s time Cal gave it.
Awww us poor fans have sacrificed lol.

Not mad nor wish any ill will toward the kid. I thought it funny that one of the big parts of his game according to our Rupp Rafters talent scouts was his great court vision.
You should watch him play. If he does not pick UK, he could possibly play at your school. No need disparaging him out of ignorance.

You sure your degree wasn’t in drama?

My degrees are in psychology - political science and social welfare.

You?

Why does it have to be dramatic? Long time UK fans have watched as the program has been used as leverage for things we’ve never seen before. Cal has moved away from traditionally accepted avenues. Home and homes are non existent, the constant NBA Push, revolving door of players, speaking down about the traditional season for a few weeks in March and so on. The list is pretty long and I could definitely keep going.

And this is something the vast majority of UK fans don’t care for and aren’t used to experiencing.

If that’s dramatic to you then I’d just say calm down.

I know what your degree is. You’ve mentioned it before. Mine is Technology and applied design. But that’s not at all relevant to a ball forum. I don’t mind telling you since you asked.

what exactly have you had to sacrifice to be a UK fan? You listed a bunch of stuff you don’t like but I don’t think you or I have had to sacrifice anything due to the coaching change that took place when Clyde was fired.

Might be an odd question, but why are are you always asking about degrees, or commenting on degrees, then act like it’s a gotcha game or something? I’m just not getting the routine?

Many UK fans disagree with you. Cal has a style that has made UK fans forgo many things they’re used to. So whatever word or phrase you prefer, sacrifice / put up with / deal with whatever. Cal is not normal, and most UK fans have sacrificed their usual preferences around this program in order to win.

Reed is a legacy kid and for everything Cal has changed at UK, lots of times for the worse, he should easily want this one. That’s all I’m saying.

If you just roam around pumping Calipari fine, but others are allowed to discuss the nuance.

Nope, not a Cal guy but I am glad he’s the coach because I think he’s our best chance to win. I don’t personally care how we do it or who we do it with.

I didn’t use the word sacrifice. You did. So I don’t prefer that word. You can’t sacrifice a preference. That doesn’t make any sense. It’s either still your preference or it isn’t. We are basketball fans. We turn on the tv to be entertained. We don’t sacrifice anything, so that’s a tad melodramatic.

Cal offered the kid the summer before his junior year. What else did you need? We are Kentucky and Clyde is gone. We have no business offering middle school kids who may or may not even take a growth spurt. We will never be that desperate again. It was pathetic the last time we did it.

I mentioned your degree because in a thread last week you insinuated I was a racist with no basis. You boasted about your two degrees like it made you qualified to do such a thing. That was uppity. I don’t fancy myself better than anyone else and anyone that does that sucks. Before that I had never mentioned anyone’s degree on here. So that’s the “routine”. Do you get it now professor?

I am definitely not one of these types, but it’s *Gillispie, not Gillespie.

For whatever reason, I get so irritated when this particular name isn’t said correctly. I have no idea why.

It’s like some that spell Adolph Rupp, Adolf. Not as common, but it does happen.
Oh I think I know why. Lol. It’s been covered

I remember a post about something that had to do with politics so I mentioned my degree. I don’t ever mention my degrees lol. Hell, you’re the one that keeps bringing it up.

the rest of that is pure nonsense I won’t even give it a response.

You should relax.

You seem to be a very low rent poster.

Relax man.
Let’s see……

bragging about fancy degree- check

Running around correcting everyone’s spelling- check

calling people low rent- check.

how did you climb up on that ivory tower with that stick up your ***? I have so many questions!

for someone who has two degrees your memory sucks. You never mention said degrees…..except when you do. I can link it if you need help. I’m bringing it up now to make fun of you.

what part of my post was pure nonsense? You’re gonna need to elaborate because none of us are as smart as you professor.

Man this degree thing bothers you. A little advice guy, let it go. I don’t even understand what it means. You sound strange. And I never correct spelling, ever. Ask anyone who’s been around for decades here, I’m not the one bro. I don’t care how people spell.

Gillispie was a UK coach you’d think people would get it.

I think you’re referring to a political discussion and I made a remark about the psychology of politics and cited a degree? I barely remember it but it seems to have stuck with you hard. It’s not a “fancy” degree lol. It’s just a social science. It’s not that hard man.

It’s just strange guy. I guess you think running your mouth and incorrectly branding people means you’ll convince others of the way someone acts, but you won’t. You just sound stupid.

I get it. I let my phone spell it and didn't pay it much attention. Happens a lot.

You either have the memory of a goldfish or you are being selectively stupid. I can save you some time if you don’t want to click the link. You did what you stated in your last paragraph almost to a T.
Now that I’ve held your hand and caught you up, do you have the inside scoop on any other middle school kids that we need to be offering?

“That’s cool,” Sheppard said after finding out the UK staff had been looking on. “Being from Kentucky — of course, mom and dad both played at Kentucky — but just being a high school player from Kentucky, that’s everybody’s dream is to go to the University of Kentucky. And now that they’re over there watching, that’s something that’s pretty cool.

“But we’re just going to see how it all plays out. And we’ll see how it goes.”

It’s in one post bro, one. I’ve already said it’s in one post. But you won’t shut up about it for some reason. If it bothers you that much sign up at a community college. Judging by your posting it would probably do you some good.

lol keep going I guess. I’m not going to respond to you anymore.

“Bro” Lol.

You’ve had trouble following the conversation from the get go. Everything I’ve said has went over your head and you’ve failed to actually elaborate when pressed. You just say **** and run off. Then you forget that you said it. You’re useless. It’s probably best that you don’t respond anymore. You suck at this.

Alford never could leap like Sheppard already does at 16. We'll see how it works out but a guy from another era who played regularly for four seasons is not a good comparison. It is possible Reed may eventually translate much better than Alford at the pro level.

Shep's AAU teammate Cupps:
Cupps, a rising junior point guard, has picked up offers from Xavier, Miami-Ohio, College of Charleston, Clemson, Dayton, Kansas State, Indiana, Brown, Ohio State and Cincinnati.

Cupps shares the backcourt at MBC with fellow 2023 star Reed Sheppard, who picked up offers from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio State over the weekend.

The two form one of the most lethal backcourts in the adidas 3SSB.

When asked if they’ve talked about potentially taking their show on the road at the next level, Cupps said, “Definitely.”
