Let me restate.

Players who’s families have contributed to the program in severely meaningful ways, like Shep and his wife, deserve to have their kids taken care of by this program.

AD’s son would already have an offer from me.

Mash’s kid would have been given an offer at birth.

Herky Rupp can start at point guard for 4 years.

The only thing Dontaie Allen and Reed Sheppard have in common is they play HS basketball in Kentucky. Why do people keep bringing up this analogy? Allen is the 4th lowest ranked recruit (50 spots below Reed) that signed with UK. I like Dontaie, but he and Reed have one thing in common...they live in the same state. Reed Sheppard, right now is in the same ballpark (within 5 spots in the rankings) as Daniel Orton, Eric Bledsoe, Doron Lamb (exact same spot), Kyle Wiltjer, Marcus Lee, Tyler Ulis (exact same spot), SKJ, Nick Richards, Quade Green and Immanual Quickley, If he's talking to anyone, he should be talking to those guys, not Dontaie Allen.
Sheppard is ranked higher as a new junior than Herro was as a senior. Not saying Shep is going to be a OAD like Herro but if he grows a couple of inches he may be a far better college freshman than many expect. Shep improved his game so much in one year’s time that it’s certainly possible in 2023 seeing him ranked even higher,

Again, if Reed is good enough to play (he is), then he will play and probably start at UK during his career here. I can only surmise by the people saying Cal won't play him is that is because he is 1. White 2. From KY 3. Both. For the first one, I will go with Herro again...good frosh, played and did well here and last I checked was white. I will point out Miller for the 2 option as Calipari started him a ton and he played his role amazingly well at UK and helped UK win #8.
I think you are misunderstanding most folks thoughts . Race or being from Ky is a non issue for most people. There is a school of thought that Cal gives way too much leash to players that are projected to be 1st round draft picks, whether they are earning those minutes or not . By the same token , some think that lower rated players are yanked from the game for 1 or 2 of the same mistakes others are making all game long . I don’t really know if I subscribe to this theory . I kinda think most coaches give their best players more leash.

Rankings should be meaningless to UK fans lately. I’m surprised after Booker, Herro, Ulis, Gilgeous Alexander, etc (all 4*s, except for Ulis who I believe wasn’t even a 4*) our fans even consider rankings as relevant anymore.

I know a few 5*s the last few years I’d have written off for those 4*s to have just stayed over the last few years.

Some think Cal should have been at the hospital when Stacy gave birth to Reed and offered a scholarship as Reed came out of her ******.

This kid is going to make so much money at UK with NIL deals, Cal will add it to his $$$ made from his players Pro contacts.

None of those guys were even close to 70. We just don’t sign guys like Allen out of HS. Baker is the only non-Kentucky kid we have signed that’s even in the same ranking discussion. Herro was 36, Booker was 29, Ulis was 21 and SGA was 34. I agree that some guys ranked high don’t pan out and some guys ranked low are better than advertised. The reason I used rankings is because, coming out of high school, the only thing Allen and Sheppard have in common is they are from the sane state. That’s it. Yet, people want to compare the two. They are in a totally different discussion as far as talent coming out of HS.

Incorrect. Both Rivals and ESPN ranked Ulis as a 5 star. ESPN had Booker as a 5 star ranked 18th, and also bumped Herro to a 5 in their final update that year. SGA was ranked 34th just barely outside the five range. That is hardly proof that rankings are irrelevant.

I don’t believe I said that.
You didn’t say just Mashburn or Sheppard’s son. I even said so anyone with ties should receive an offer, and you said “there’s only so many of these guys.” That’s how I took it.

I don’t agree at all, there is no reason to start Herky Rupp just because his dad is the coach. You would thrown a fit if Brad Calipari was the starting guard for 4 years. If the kids are good and deserve a spot then they deserve it. That’s all.

If history has taught us anything it’s that if KSR covers the event and promotes it hard then it’s going our way. They get tipped off early when it’s Kentucky to maximize coverage

or….anyone with a shred of common sense knew it was UK all along. Say a prayer for the doomers today that yearned for something to ***** about.

Didn’t Damian Harris do that when he chose Bama after leading the state on for weeks ? I realize that was football but it was still a big deal.

Virginia. My cousin is married to his girlfriends aunt.

Just got off work and called my cousin who dates his aunt. He’s going to the university of Virginia. Tony Bennet will be in Laurel county tomorrow

So is one cousin married to Reed's girlfriend's aunt, and another cousin is dating Reed's aunt?

Or is a single cousin married to Reed's girlfriend's aunt and also dating his aunt? I'm confused.
