This thread shows how low a portion of the fan base has sunk. Hoping Reed Shepherd picks a different school just so they can ***** and moan. Truly pathetic people.
But surely when Reed picks UK those same bitching fans will praise Cal for getting him in 2021 right? LMFAO

I hope no one is doing that. If there’s some examples please show it because I haven’t seen any.

There coach also has as many titles as UK's + he has a system
I hope the kid picks UK & is given a fair shake
Key word of that sentence” is given a fair shake” usually the first few years it seems the KY boys have to do more earning than the rest of the players!

Only to you bc you want it to

Rent free

So if Cal can’t seal the deal for a legacy kid like Sheppard we’re all just supposed to what? That would be a huge blow. Cal should answer for it.

The one thing that will definitely be nice about Cals retirement is the next coach won’t be anywhere near as good of a salesman and those of us who can handle it won’t have to deal with the ones who can’t.

As a UK fan I'd love for him to play here. If he was my son I'm not sure I can say the same thing. As a UK legacy and KY native it's a tough decision for him to make.

The UK program of today, as Cal says, is not for everyone. The program today is built for only one kind of player (whether we get them or not). Even though it was a different era, one of the most surprising and exceptional things Pitino may have ever done here was his management of not one but several rural KY players during his early years here.
True. I think Rick loved the idea of always bringing in a couple of the low ranked gym rat types and showing what he could do with them. His system in the 90's did excell at freeing up those types to where they could shine if they had any ability at all (mainly shooting). It was kind of the opposite of Cal sometimes with the less talented guys. If they get in they better hit the first shot or thats it for 3 games where Pitinos' mantra was "shoot it or get out". It make hero's out of guy like Farmer, Junior Braddy, Jeff Brassow and on and on. Those guys had no fear at all and it brought out what limited abilty they had 100% though.

Many here were obsessed with the notion that Jeff and Cal don’t like each other and he’s a Pitino guy.

I’ve talked with Jeff personally about this and he told me and my father he competed against Cal and has mad respect for him. Said none of its true and he thinks Cal is right for the job. He talked about Kentucky and how much the program has meant to him since he was a little kid.

Now he’s sending his son to play for Cal Lol.

So it’s total ********. Jeff played at UK for Pitino. That’s the best era of UK basketball since Rupp. I hope like hell he’s loyal to us and Pitino or Jeff wouldn’t be the guy we know he is. But that’s got nothing to do with 2021 and the current staff. We all would have loved it had Pitino stayed, won a crap load of titles, and been here for Reed to play for the family. But it didn’t happen and no one can help it. I hated that sht every time I saw someone say it but it just never died. The worst part of the Pitino situation is our own fans helping drive wedges between those teams and UK. Pitino made that sht hard enough, we didn’t need to help it.
I understand. I was hoping that was what you were meaning.

Serious question: what's considered the beginning? I mean the kid's only a junior? Which means we've been following him from at least his sophomore year. That seems pretty early to me?

If I were Cal I would have offered Reed in the 6th grade. Don’t care if he would just end up a bench warmer. We owe it to Jeff and Stacey after everything they contributed to this program and the fans deserve to have connections like that. If not none of this is even worth it.

Yep . Virginia was in touch with him last year too . I don’t think it makes much difference in this instance though. I do know his very first scholarship offer was High Point.

If he comes to UK its either going to be great or its going to end bitterly

There is no in between. Cal will not have the option to treat him like Dante Allen or recruit over him.

Sheppard has no option but to play like fire and carry the team

Maybe UVa is in the mix because Dad understands that.

I mean, who knows how good he really is, right? Maybe he's not a guy that should have 30mpg right away. So I would hate to turn down the opportunity to get a top5 guard the following year, just because Reed is a Kentucky guy whose Dad played for us.

The pressure that will be put on Reed will be immense, that's for sure.

Just have a gut feeling it's not going to be UK. Really hope I'm wrong though.

Kentucky fans will be even angrier (if that's possible) at Calipari if we lose Reed.
If he picks anyone but UK I will trash cal daily on here for the rest of his tenure. It HAS to be The Cats.

Well, there is a clear difference. The issue with Herro was that he originally committed to Wisconsin and acted like he was eager to be a Badger, but then abruptly flipped to UK during his senior year.

Sheppard hasn’t committed to UK so there won’t be any sense that he jerked us around like that if he chooses someone else.
Bingo. Herro was an *** the way he treated UW fans.

That's aweird take. Did unc take Jordan's sons and offer in 6th grade? It should be on merit, same as any other recruits.

Why are you even getting worked up about something that isn’t even going to happen? Wtf are you arguing about

Here is my thinking. If you aren't picking UK ... why announce now? A lot could change between now and enrolling. He picks UVA and Tony Bennett could be gone or the whole team change over. If that is what you want, you wait another year.

You pick Kentucky now, because it is your dream school and your parents played there. It is the only place you want to be. That is the no-brainer decision no matter who the coach is and who else is on the team.

Probably been answered but where is he making the announcement? The high school? Odd to pick Virginia if that's the case

What are you blabbering about? I wasn’t talking to you, I was replying to someone who was saying “if” we don’t get him. Try and keep up or don’t respond until you can.

Nobody is worked up except you.

He’s literally making what if scenarios in a thread so that he has something to argue about. It’s really a wild thing to read.

Again some of you Cal First boys need to read better. I was answering someone that had already set up the question. Read the thread, it’s what if’s all over. I mean more than half of what we do here is projecting scenarios.

I get it’s all about defending Cal with some of you, but it’s making you literally unable to be coherent and sound ridiculous.

Go back to page 1. I’ve already said I think he’s done to UK and it’s a great position for Calipari. Y’all just don’t care about anything but defending the guy so you miss everything.

Morg you’ve really gone off the deep end. If you were Calipari the starting lineup would be Brandon Stockton’s stepson, Gimel Martinez’s nephew, Betsy Layne’s 6th man (he plays the game the right way), Marc Maggard’s hairdresser and Runnin’’ Richie.

I am UK first last and in between. I would have offered Reed in a wheelchair.

And that lineup would fight harder than last years team that’s for sure. The “UK way”.

All kidding aside Morg I’m just trying to figure out what your argument is in this thread.

Well it began by me saying he’s headed to UK and it’s a great pickup for Calipari. I think he understands and made him a priority which means Cal hasn’t completely lost touch with what this is all about which means I’m happy that’s the case.

Then the CFFC began to turn this into a defense thread yet again and it went from there.

I mean, if you had a point to the thread what would it be?

General merriment and good natured banter.
