When was the last time that we redshirted that much of what appears to be a lot of quality talent. Reimer is a little surprising because he looks to me to be one of those guys who you would love to have as a 5th year senior linebacker. I know they really like him.

I’m surprised that Hannah hasn’t played in any games.

A big redshirt class which will hopefully pay dividends in the future. Some of these guys would of definitely helped this year. We had tons of walk ons for special teams. No rotations at several positions.

Nelson is talented but has his production warranted burning a redshirt on a 4 win team?

Has he played that many meaningful minutes?

Although not a freshman, how many games did Mo Washington play in this year?
Mo played in 5 games already. What an unfortunate situation!

-He didn't get to work out with the team and build on his athleticism prior to playing as a Freshman.
-He then spent this past offseasons going back and forth to California for court cases, not allowing him to get the most out of the training program.
-He then waste his 2nd year of eligibility by only playing in 5 games.
-He will also ikely will miss another offseasons of training.

WTH!!!!

Nelson IMO is the most talented guy on the team right now at his position. He wouldn't be here for a 5th year anyway so we might as well use him now. He's going to get bigger and stronger and will grow in to a 4-3 DE by the time he goes to the NFL. JMHO. He's got the mindset, ability and motor if he can stay healthy to play on Sundays.

I havent heard a peep of Hannah, anyone hear how he is doing in practice? Is he healthy?
I hate having to try to read between the lines on coaching comments and the extremely vague commentary of Damon Benning. But earlier in the year, it was implied that Hannah is a project. I think he's a natural pass rusher who is still learning how to play middle LB. I compare him to Colin Miller, I guess.

I am all over the Nelson band wagon right now. I heard an analyst say imagine how good Nelson will be when he knows what he is doing out there. And I believe that. He's a high effort kid, tons of heart and he'll develop into an excellent pass rusher. I like what they are doing by implementing bigger outside backers on one side and scheming to bring that guy to the line rather than ask him to cover backs on the flat. It's smart.

He has the mentality that you want from your whole team. WHEN we get that kind of hair on fire mentality from the whole defense it will be fun to watch.

Contrast that with a starting D-lineman practicing all week and then telling the coaches Saturday morning that he "couldn't go".

well maybe he shouldn't have been trying to practice. I'm not going to criticize him for being honest with the coaching staff if he felt he couldn't be effective. We had a young guy fill in and do a darned good job. It's entirely possible that his injury got aggravated. I know the Davis twins have endured some criticism this year but we don't know if we haven't walked in their shoes.

Anything is possible I guess. But that's another reason why I think NFL scouts will grow to like Nelson. The staff would have to hide his helmet to keep him off the field.

He's a Nebraska kid. Even if he's an NFL talent, he still stays for his senior year imo. It would be nice if we could get to the point where we have a good enough team where we could redshirt kids like him.

If Robinson can go next week, Rahmir needs to be a no go. Kid really needs an extra year.

I wouldn’t hold my breath thinking Rahmir is the difference between a Husker when or loss vs Iowa. If he struggles to break arm tackles against Maryland, then I’m guessing he wouldn’t be a kid I’d go to against Iowa. And hate it if you want but I’m just being honest. I see now why the kid wasn’t playing much

Newsome and Reimer were worse. Nelson got a decent amount of playing time and has played well, but unfortunately haven't seen many impact plays from him yet. It would be great if we could get to the point where we can redshirt guys like Nelson so they have an extra year of eligibility where they can make an impact.

Agreed, burning his redshirt at this point doesn't make sense.

I think he had to. Who else did we have to play his position? It was just him and Alex Davis. In a perfect world he red shirts, but 2019 Nebraska is far from a perfect world.

The only thing message board criticizers know about is how to close a convenience store. Getting them to imagine going to college, playing power 5 football, dealing with negative media, and trying to keep themselves sane is an impossibility. Seriously, you drop this message board to a 13 and under board and the content would not change one bit.

Of course he'll stay for his senior year if he's not projected as a first rounder.

Fans: play the damn freshman.

Fans: Ok, now I see why he needs the redshirt year.

lol.
Trolls on this message board: crap post. Crap post... OK I’ll change my username so no one will know who I am. That will trick them. I’m Mr Cool guy....

And for the record I’m the one who said I can see now why RJ needed a RS but I’ve never said to play him,

I’ve been on this board for 18 years. I can tell you no one joins this board and posts over 500 posts in their first 2 months. Those are people that are too chicken **** to stick with their original username

Blaise Gunnerson will be a guy that plays like Nelson. Motor runs hot all of the time. Very similar type of players.

Does a bowl game count towards the four game limit?

Wait!! Did I say BOWL GAME!! That’s crazy and the kind of insanity that comes from the team showing a pulse for the first time in over a month,

Well it's a heck of a lot easier to do that with a 4 game redshirt rule.
