You might want to check my posts about 10 months ago......I said it would NOT be a red wave......as usual I was right. The Republicans put out some terrible candidates.
I will say that I was very surprised that it was a red wave here in Jefferson County......several new Republican women beat out some long time Democrats.
Actually, Democrats helped fund who they thought would be bad candidates for Republicans. At least some of those "bad candidates" were helped by the left.

Over what? Your loser party still lost seats in the House. Didn't gain any advantage in the Senate. Lost in key races in Ohio, Florida, Texas & Georgia and the guy YOU voted for...creepy Joe Biden, has also been rendered a lame Duck!
We on Republican side very much hoped for a "Red Wave" but it was still a very good night for the GOP and most importantly, the radical Left wing agenda of the Democrat Left & this administration will never reach its pinnacle.

Trump running again would be the best thing that could happen for the Democrats. They would gain so many votes due to a large portion of the electorate voting "against Trump". Against all hope I expect he'll announce he is running in 2024. Hopefully the Republican leadership (ha) or "we" Republicans can somehow prevent him from getting the nomination.
Trump getting the nomination isn't a given, but the GOP bench is strong and deep enough that if he doesn't win it, chances are there will be a strong candidate running anyway. I do think it's his to lose though.
