Is it just me or have Busch and Joseph put together a sneakily decent class given our W/L record. Hire a coach and nab a few guys late or in the portal and this year might not be a lost year.

Depends on who gets hired. Could look completely different. Local kids are probably solid regardless.

They have sent offers to players that fit the B1G mold. They are smart enough to see the discrepancies in the team playing in this conference. But yes, they have done well.

I admittedly haven't been following recruiting much this year, but I'm very happy Malachi Coleman is coming to NU. As a former Spartan, I'm glad to see it!

all but 2 of the class as it currently stands committed to Frost -

we haven't had as many decommits as I expected once Frost was fired - I hope that is due to our current coaches doing a good job holding the line and not due to lack of interest from other schools

This recruiting class is average at best right now. There are a couple elite players at skill positions but outside of that, it misses elite talent along the DL and OL

There doesn’t appear to be any Suhs in this class but there could be a Crick, Long or Herian. The line between a 3 star and 4 star is so damned thin that I’m kind of over it. Guys like Sledge, Brahmer, Gottula and Van Poppel could be very good players for us.

I just want coaches who can develop some hard nosed OL/DL types, that includes strength and conditioning teaching.

So it COULD be a good class IF some of our three star players turn into studs.

Exactly. Other than local kids it will all depend on the new head coach and whatever staff he assembles. The thing that's different these days is the early signing period where most of the action takes place and the transfer portal which can make a huge difference.

So right now how the recruiting class turns out is anyone's guess but I would think the transfer portal is a bigger factor than ever if the new coach/staff want to get off to a good start next year.

The class needs to finish strong with either some transfers or kids who follow our new coach but damn I like the nucleus Mickey has put together given the mess we have.

Year after year we somehow land a decent class despite being horrible.
it helps when the best recruits in your class are locals who grew up neb fans. take out the local kids and the class looks different

Odd take. All teams should recruit well in their region. Remove Louisiana kids from LSUs class. Texas kids from UTs class. Nebraskas regional recruiting pool is a detriment if anything.

If Nebraska’s staff can close on some good O & D linemen along with some LB’s and DB’s, it will be a solid top 25 class. We shall see what happens.

We have a couple of under rated O line prospects already in this class class IMO. Could really use 2 DTs

I have said for years, the ranking of a class is meaningless unless you fill some positions or potential positions of need. We could have a top 20 class that doesn't have any contributing OL or DL and would that be considered good?

Yes, I believe the two local O Line prospects are potential 90’s type talent, just need a good group of coaches to get them to that level.
