Just curious what happens to recruiting if we only win 3 or 4 this year. Frost came in one of the top coaches, and most recognizable names in the nation. Recruits knew his high powered offense. Do recruits maybe considering Nebraska, now take a step back with a poor showing this year? Or do wins and loss not really matter at this point to recruits. Either they want to come here or they don't.

In my opinion it really doesn't matter much. There might be a few kids that were looking at Nebraska, but then don't. Nebraska is not a "destination" school. At this point the kids who are going to come here are the ones who are team players and want to be a part of rebuilding this thing into greatness. I think those are the type of kids Frost wants anyways. . All the pre-madonnas can go to Bama..... or Oregon St;)

Pre-Madonnas have been with us for, like, centuries... when do we start talking about Post-Madonnas? Do we have to wait for Madonna to die?
I would say yes, lol. And what exactly is a post-madonna? If is the opposite of pre then yes we would want lots of post-madonnas on this team

A bad season would be worse for recruiting results than a good season. I don’t think there’s any getting around that.

We'll be fine. We have a proven and young staff, completely opposite than what we had with Riley. Recruits understand that.

No offense, but having huge roster turnover isn't necessarily a precursor to a good recruiting class, simply because it presents opportunity. Alabama still has a top class every year, even though they have a roster full of top players. Saban provides all of those players an opportunity to play right away too. They are starting a soph QB over a junior QB that led them to the national title game 2 years in a row. The next QB that comes in, if he is better than Tua will play ahead of Tua. And they are not alone Ohio St, Clemson etc all have the same philosophy.

If Nebraska has a similar record to last year, the luster of the program falls off a bit with this class. That would be 3 losing seasons in 4 years, that is going to be tough to overcome on the recruiting trail.

You can have a pretty bad W-L ratio in year one and people will give you a pass. Keep doing it and your class falls apart like Riley's did because everyone can see you can't coach and you're gonna get fired.

What's concerning about this class is that they seem to be on the outside looking in for elite kids since Henrich committed. Is NU even in the running with any of the remaining Top 250 kids?

Seems like the rest of the way we're going to be hoping for ratings upgrades for kids rather than landing guys everyone already agrees are bigtime players.

It's going to be a big class and it needs to be. The roster is better than it was in December but it's still very thin in terms of guys who definitely belong on the 2-deep at a P5 competitor.

They have 5 kids rated 4* by Rivals, it's hard to see that number climbing much higher. That's a far cry from how the big boys recruit. If Nebraska is a distant 4th in its own conference for recruiting, it's hard to see them emerging as a power program again any time sooner than 2022. And even that assumes a very strong 2020 class.

The best recruiting classes come off of a losing or subpar season when you are a new coach.

These kids think their will be early playing time.

We were 5-7 when Callahan brought in the number one class.
While Callahan was not a very good head coach I would love to see him as a recruiting coordinator.

I don't know that it really matters too much. I would say this, already with 5 Nebraska kids committed for the 19 class, which is the most in a long time, hopefully the local kids will pan out. You will keep getting the Nebraska kids more than likely. It is just a matter if you can find a difference maker or two from in state. It has been a long time since Omaha was churning out players like in the 80's and 90's, that has to happen again for Nebraska to get back IMO.

The only kid from this group that I have seen play is Snodgrass. A nice player, but I just don't know exactly what he will play in college as far as a position.

I'm pissed right now, as every Husker fan should be.

Just don't go pointing the finger. We all know why this happened.

Live with it for awhile.

We were 5-7 when Callahan brought in the number one class.

People forget Tom Lemming's comments though. The two primary reasons he had us slated as the Top Class was the fact that we had what, 30 kids, and at that time we were abandoning 40 years of the option and bringing in 30 WCO kids when you had nothing but option kids on the roster was a huge "need" fill that other teams simply weren't doing similarly historic transitions.

In general there are over 100 D1 schools that can offer a talented recruit playing time. The fact of the matter is there simply are so many teams filled with not so great players all around. Nebraska is not exactly unique in the regard that it can offer playing time, even for schools within the B1G.

The ceiling of our class is what innate ability the staff has to sell, and to what degree to they want to prostrate themselves to chase the same 100 kids everyone else is to get those Top 10 classes. Frost has already indicated publically he's not about that game, and has even indicated that other schools basically cheat to get those classes, which is definitely a no go for him.

Nobody, anywhere, is slobbering over Callahan. However, it was noted that he could recruit, and recruit well. Which is true.

I love irony.

For example, an idiot calling other people idiots.

Ironic.

For Snodgrass - Maybe Hybrid TE or ILB? His 40 doesn't blow you away, but the size and athleticism combined is very good and at the higher end of the spectrum (he would have scored well in the old Eppley testing with his shuttle/vertical/size/etc.

This is true and was mentioned previously due to the 30 signings (as well as Lemming and Callahan's longtime friendship giving a little home cooking I might add)
