I’ve been looking on the Internet trying to find the top 10 recruiting classes for next year. I saw that Duke has the number one class as of right now. Does anyone know where UK is on that list?

#3 behind Arizona
JFCats if we sign up grad transfers that will not count towards our rankings correct? If I recall when we brought in Travis last year it did not affect our ranking. So I suppose unless we bring in another recruit like McDaniels we are more than likely not going to have the number 1 or number 2 class for the first time since Coach Cal has been here I believe?

Yes, transfers (of any kind) do not count towards recruiting rankings.

Duke has had #1 4 straight years, but I think Cal has been 1 or 2 every year he has been here.

Frankly if we wind up say 2-6 it's fine with me. I like this class and it seems to be getting better.

We are turning over rocks trying to find players to fill out the roster, meanwhile Duke has them lined up waiting to pick out which high rent district houses their parents will live in for the next year.I wonder if Zion's folks have moved out yet?
Duke class this year wouldn’t be top 5 in last years ranking class. It’s the Duke effect only.

I think Vernon Carey is really good but the other don't impress me.
I agree. Every class Cal has had at UK was easily better than this years Duke class. It’s not even close. Even if they land another guy they’ll lose 10-12 games next year. Media can hype all they want but look at their roster.

I take our current roster of theirs 10/10 times and don’t look back.

Our 2016 class was better, the rankings be damned. I would also argue that our 2017 class was better also. Had Vanderbilt been healthy, it would've been proven true. They might get the nod solely based on Bagley. In any event, our Fox, Monk and Bam class was much better than that Tatum class they brought in that year.

I’m sure there’s A LOT of D1 coaches that would love to have Cal’s recruiting problems. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Arizona’s class isn’t better than Kentucky or Duke’s. They just have more players. Look at it from the best players down.

Maxey > Mannion
Whitney > Green
Brooks > Nnaji
Allen = Armstrong (Rivals has Allen higher, 247 has Armstrong higher)

And then Zona has a guy ranked in the 100’s. Ain’t no way I take their class over Kentucky’s.

Just my opinion, but I think the assistants need to evaluate better. For instance recruit shooting guards that can shoot or bigs that are quick off their feet and not looking like they are playing ball in a sand pit.
I remember Clark Francis saying that coaches use to subscribe to his news letter and call to get info about a kid, now I would think that’s the job of the assistants not a high school talent scout that’s trying to get into a coaches inner circle.

Right on cue brother :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Good thing recruiting rankings don’t = titles as evidenced (particularly) by Coach K and duke failing to make it past the EE two years in a row, even with perhaps the most talented and hyped player since Lebron James in 2002 AND another generational talent in RJ Barrett and another top 5 pic in Cam Reddish

Giles was hurt
Not super fair to say that. Cause Giles is a hell of a player

Yet players continue to fall all over themselves to go there, everyone except the NCAA has to wonder why

We all keep making fun of them cheating to get Zion (which is true/ factual) but they cheated their asses off the year before too by SOMEHOW getting both Bagley and Duval reclassified/cleared when , literally, ALL the recruiting experts/ bloggers/ journalists were saying neither would probably EVER be eligible much less eligible, reclassified and accepted into a relatively prestigious University.

Deplorable.

Duval didn’t reclassify.

Amazed Miller has been able to recruit top talent. I understand the weather, the money, the girls... but he really doesnt develop guys whatsoever. Probably does the least with the most of any coach.

Kentucky's class was better, no matter how you spin it.
Im not debating who’s is better. I’ll always support Kentucky players no matter what. Talking about Giles. He was the number one player in the class for a reason. And if you watch Sacramento at all you can see he has a super high ceiling. So objectively don’t compare dukes class without a healthy Giles. That’s only fair

It's kinda a hard comparison because he clearly wasn't the number one player in that class anymore, then or now. Maybe it's not objective to label him as number one in that class when he certainly wasn't.

Why do people have to come up with stuff just to fit their narrative

2 behind Jackson. Would of remained 1 if not for his injury.

Stop being close minded. He was the best player in his class. He came off a serious injury. You don’t watch basketball so stop commenting on his development cause if you watch Sacramento you’d know the kid clearly is talented.

Everyone knew he was tops in that class before the injury. I remember watching him from freshmen year and beyond and knew he was special. The kid could handle and shoot at the time and was actually more of a SF with bounce and a killer midrange as a freshman. Injuries stopped him from reaching his potential though. Without the injuries imagine a more skilled Marvin Bagley.

As far as this class rankings, it’s about where it should be and that isn’t a bad thing for this year due to the returners (if Nick and EJ return). The team won’t be as talented as this past season but potentially more versatile

Exactly take the fact it’s a duke kid. Giles was and still is elite. Yes injury took a toll but in high school the kid was a freak.

Don't question my basketball knowledge. I'm saying that he WASN'T the best player coming in that year because of injury. I don't give a flying **** where he was ranked. He wasn't the best player in that class when he came in and he STILL isn't. Yes, I understand that's where they had him ranked, but he was clearly not the best player of the class coming in then or now. Hell, he wasn't even the best freshmen at duke. Matter of fact, Tatum is still the better player. Are you dealing with a full deck? Serious question.

Last I saw UK was #2 . With Hurt going to Duke we might be 3rd now but we ain't done . IMO all we have to do is land anyone decent and we wil be #1. Again this flat out doesn't matter. Whether you are 1 or 3 you are bringing in talent. Also if you add Sestina UK has the best class in the country IMO .

Dude I agree, it amazes me nothing has happened with the wire tap. How is he able to get these player still? You would think they would be apprehensive to go there.

True, if I could use sestina in the rankings I do believe we would be number one.
