Obviously the SEC teams have played each other more, but I think the records of each against others in Omaha spell who the favorites are:

Mich 0-3 (lost a series against Texas Tech)
FSU 1-2 (Louisville is the only CWS team they played)
Aub 2-8
L'ville 2-2 (Beat FSU in a series, Lost to Vandy)
TT 3-1 (Beat MI, lost a game to us)
MSU 3-5 (1-run game to AU, 1-run game to UV, SNAFU in Fayetteville)
Ark 6-3
Peabody College 8-1 (only loss is a 14-12 game against AR)

Our side of the bracket is essentially like playing the SEC tournament which I hate. We have been so dominant this year outside of the SEC that I would give anything if we were in the spot that Arkansas has in the CWS. Of course they had to play an SEC team in the SR to advance but got them at home. I would much rather have played NC than Aub and Vandy is the most talented team in Omaha. SEC familiarity seems to work against us in most cases. Auburn certainly won't have any intimidation playing us.

So Vandy beat Auburn 4 times, Ark 2 times, Louisville 1 time, and us 1 time.

Not really surprising. At first that makes Vandy look bad ***, but if you look at their SEC schedule, it doesn't look quite so intimidating compared to ours. Definitely the most dangerous team in the world series to us. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if Louisville pulled the upset and we managed to avoid them until they were at least coming out of the loser's bracket.

Let's look at who they did lose to...

Illinois State
TAM twice
UGA twice

They recently suffered a 13 run beat down by Duke in a super regional opener at home.

Don't misunderstand me, they are good, really, really good and if we will have our work cut out for us if we play them but they are far from invincible and benefited greatly from being in the decidedly much weaker eastern division of the SEC.

Exactly. They are tough, but I wouldn’t swap rosters with them, mainly because we have the edge in pitching and that goes a long way at TD Ameritrade. It’s just going to depend on which team can get more clutch hits and make the fewest mistakes if we play. Very evenly matched clubs, as we have already seen in Hoover.

...and in the Supers last year. 2 walkoffs and 1 in extras. Couple that with the 1-0 SECt game, and recent history says we are pretty damn evenly matched teams.

I respect all of our opponents but am not afraid of any of them. We have as much talent as anybody left and more experience than everybody but Arkansas, and without looking at Arky’s roster to see who they lost from last year, we may have more Omaha experience than they do (they start two freshmen in their rotation, for one).

Everybody still playing was a Preseason Top 25 team, so obviously they’re all good and didn’t totally come out of nowhere to get here. But so are we, and we’ve really been clicking the last couple of weeks. No end result would shock me, but I feel good about our chances against anyone.

I’d be ok if Louisville would stay hot and beat Vandy in Game 1, then let Auburn face Kumar Rocker in the elimination game.
