I spoke to a TV repairman (yes, they are still around) not long ago and he suggested looking at Camping World for an antenna for RVs. He also suggested a signal booster but be sure to connect the booster as close as you can to the antenna, not the TV. By the time the signal reaches the TV there may not be much of a signal to boost. Hope this helps some.

You bet. If you haven't fooled with the digital antennas, you're gonna be shocked how good the picture is. One different thing too is, generally either the picture is great or you can't see **** - no grainy pictures.

That's a good sign, should be fairly easy to get those but just because an antenna says its a 30 mile indoor antenna doesn't mean it will pull in every channel on the list within 30 miles. It means that on a clear day with no trees in the way, no rain or clouds, no mountains in the way, no tall buildings in the way and no metal roof on your house that it will get every channel within 30 miles.

Outside antenna is much better than an antenna inside. Attic antenna is better than an inside antenna. Any antenna up high outside is better than all of them. That doesn't mean a good inside antenna like a Channel Master or Leaf do a good job. What I'm trying to say is all situations are different. Sometimes you can put a bent paper clip in the coax port on the back of your tv and pick up every channel on the list. I live mostly in Starkville and Antenna Web doesn't mention it but I'm picking up Birmingham stations on my antenna, you just never know. At my place by the Reservoir in Jackson I can pick up everything in the metro area with a homemade piece of junk I made out of coat hangers and a 1" x 4" piece of board.

Yes, height matters, especially if you live in a valley or have a lot of trees around, and if you want to pick up signals from farther away (the earth is a sphere). I live maybe 12 miles away from the majority of TV transmitters here, and have trouble receiving them (dependent on weather to an extent) because I live in a low area with a lot of trees. And I have an antenna in the attic of my two-story house, so it's up pretty high.

I think Consumer Reports recommends the Mohu ReLeaf, Winegard FlatWave FL5500A, and Clearstream 2Max.

Outside antenna is the best. There is a good chance you have an old satellite mount on your house. I just took down our old satellite, out up my antenna and hooked into the existing coax. Really easy if you have that setup.

Correct. The mousepad antennae (even the expensive ones) aren't that great for rural people.
