Illinois coach was yelling (in an instructive way) at his players about this. Was behind the bench. Basically, towards end of game, RU was still getting offensive rebounds and keeping the Illini to one shot.
I said it in the thread leading up to the game that we needed to rebound , all hands on deck all guards crashing the boards and no second chance points on kick out threes. Well Pike emphasized it and it was our best rebounding game in 3 years. Clearly the main reason we won and holding them to 1 and done all night. If we bring this rebounding effort , and we are more than capable , we can play with anyone in the country as it has been our Achilles Heel all year. Absolutely thrilled with that effort tonight
Having bigger guards really helps us. Missed threes bounce farther from the basket.

I always beg this team to crash the offensive boards more. We have Cliff supreme athlete and length and height with Caleb and Paul.
Pike went to Hyatt to further enhance the rebounding as he had 5 boards. 3 offensive. Made some mistakes too, but the rebounding was the reason I think Pike played Hyatt even with Ron on the court since we have seen Hyatt mostly get Ron's minutes when he takes a seat

Illinois was not ready for what was waiting for them tonight. Both from the boys on the floor and the folks in the crowd. They were overwhelmed.
