What do you think the reason Moos is stalling to fire Riley? Here are my best possible guesses

1. He still hasn't figured out what he wants to do with MR
2. He knows he wants to Fire MR but has no option lined up to take over yet.
3. He has someone lined up to take over (cough cough, Frost) who is 100% so he figured there is no hurry to fire MR now.
4. He said early on he wasn't going to make a decisoin on Riley until year end and he is keeping his word.

Best guesses right there. I really hope it is option 3. Who knows at this point. We could all be in for another shocker/ google type hire or even more shocker Riley stays lol

Uhhh... He said he doesn't fire coaches during the season. Do you think he was lying?

Wouldn't be able to announce a new coach now anyway, unless they aren't currently coaching a team.

You really asked that question?

You really think Moos hasn’t made a decision?

Really? Seriously?

You really believe it is as simple as that? He has fired coaches before mid season.

Maybe he has in the past. But when he literally said just weeks ago when he was first hired that he wouldn’t do fire Riley mid season. He can’t just go back on that. The impatience and ridiculousness that is the husker fan base is just maddening. The culture is beyond toxic and really is no wonder why we can’t re-establish a decent program.

He’s old. We older folks take a little longer to get things done. You know...sore knees and hips...still haven’t found the bathroom closest to the new office...ran out of Geritol... The list is long.

Since Frost is adamant he won’t start bargaining until season is over and moos is adamant he won’t make a mid season move....

It’s pretty clear to me we won’t have official action on either end until....you guessed it....end of season

Why didn't the Moos cross the road? Because he told us he wasn't going to until rush hour was over.

We won't have an official announcement until after Iowa. He said it and last time I checked Riley is still coaching which means he hasn't been fired yet. He may have been told he won't be retained but he's still our employee today.

Yes a question on a msg board is toxic to the program. Lol Some need to destress a bit on here.

The Moos isn't taking long, time is taking long if you ask me.

The Moos knows what he's going to do, that is for sure. Only way Riley would have salvaged his tenure would have been to go undefeated in impressive fashion all the way through.. We all know how that turned out. As Moos has said, there's no benefit to firing Riley now with only 8 days left.

The hand wringing and anxiety on this board is unbelievable. Things will begin to clear up on Saturday after the Iowa game (whatever they may be). Until then, another thread ain't gonna change things.

People apparently can't listen or read these days. Moos said from Day One he wasn't going to announce a decision until after the season. What is so unclear about that? He's a man of integrity - sticks to his word.

Our impatience is understandable. We are passionate about Husker football and we know the Riley era is over. So we are as anxious as a little kid on Christmas Eve waiting to open those presents in the morning and can't sleep because of the excitement. We want to know NOW... who is our next coach?! But I guarantee you that if that next coach is Frost we won't hear about that until later anyway, even if we fire Riley tonight.

Patience.... Mister Moose knows what he is doing and he will drop the ping pong balls in due course

Yes a question on a msg board is toxic to the program. Lol Some need to destress a bit on here.

The endless questions on the message boards turn into days of discussion on the radio, that turn into weeks of newspaper articles about a guy that hasn’t even taken the job, which turns into a seemingly state wide obsession that makes the job toxic to anyone that isn’t Frost. Not only does the obsession make the expectations unfair to Frost but I’m sure it also makes the job less attractive. Who wants to be viewed as the one and only savior for a program hasn’t done squat in 15 years and is currently a mess? On top of that, what if Frost turns down the job? What decent coach would want this job knowing everyone would be disappointed with him being here? This whole thing is embarrassing for this program, fan base and the state.

Think of Moos as the girl you are in a relationship with...you think things are going fine but in her mind she has already dumped you...moved some stuff out...met new dudes and is just waiting until after the holidays to let you know that "its not you...its her..."

Agree, this topic wasn't so much as me being impatient as it was to start a conversation although obviously some around here are wound pretty tight and see it that way. Not you Penny :)

Go take a peak at any msg board or article or news report at any other big time school that is struggling. It is all the same. The whole state of FL is in meltdown mode right now. I have been over to their msg board and have seen about 4 coaches named, "100% for sure thing hires"

This. There isn't anything more toxic about our fan base or our obsession with the state of our program than with any other big time program

Disagree. What other school has had multiple newspapers run almost daily stories about one coach that still has another job? Florida fans are discussing. But they are talking about multiple guys. They are open to options. This fan base isn’t. It’s one guy or shut down the football program for a lot of people

Moos said that he's not making coaching changes until the end of the season.

That doesn't mean he's "taking so long".

It means that the season is still going on and he's doing exactly what he said he's going to do.

False, They want Frost or Chip Kelly that is it. Every other article that comes out of Fl right now is mentioning one of those 2 guys. 90% of their topics on their msg board is mentioning 1 of those 2 guys. The only reason people are so heavy on Frost here is because he is a home town guy. Honestly I think many would be fine with Chip here as well. So how is it we are so much worse than FL?

Florida fans are pretty fixated on Chip Kelly. He isn't coaching another team, but it's still crazy town. Stalking airports, etc. Last night they were tweeting pictures of a guy getting off a plane in Gainesville they thought was Kelly's agent, that turned out to be a pilot.
