It's not about the schedule. If this team featured James Wiseman the gym would be packed.

Getting the best players gives the fans the idea of fresh excitement every season. We have a team full of really good players who will grow and develop over time, but from an excitement perspective, it's pretty much what we saw three of the last four seasons as far as talent is concerned.

The fan base is in a "I'll wait until they develop" mindset. Until then, there's no John Wall or Karl Towns to get excited about from day one. That means, we'll wait until this thing galvanizes a bit.
That's an interesting take. I haven't heard that one. I think you've hit on something that's probably part of the equation too.

This is not a reflection on the UK program. This is happening in every sport as a direct result of multiple things that has already been discussed in this thread—cost, tv, etc etc.

I don’t like it any more than the rest, but I also don’t feel it’s a reflection on some type of step back the UK program has taken.

I do think it’s valid that if you want butts in the seats, schedule games that fans want to see. That’s exactly what other programs do and UK may not be able to count on sellouts for the direction state games anymore. Which would be a good thing IMO.

I like it like it is. Fans that do show up are positive and the negative fans like you stay home and complain. It makes for a much more enjoyable night for those of us that do attend.

I'd be at every game if I lived close to Lexington. and you know what..... dont lose to evansville and I wouldnt of been negative. F*cktards like yourself dont understand the simple concept of fans take on the mood that correlates to how their team is playing.

by the way.. if i said I didnt want the arena packed .....and gave a stupid reason like he did......... I'd be bashed by several posters saying I'm not a real fan or I'm too negative.

But somehow KL is going against the wishes of Barnhart and Cal where they want the arena packed and KL doesnt.... uhhhhh isnt that negative against UK's wishes? lol so kind of ironic there.

I agree that it's really not about the schedule but never thought I'd see the day when someone had to practically beg fans to attend games at Rupp.

I remember the times, and it wasn’t that long ago, when EVERY GAME mattered for UK basketball...... That’s what made and separated the UK program and fans from all the others......

Just Sayin......
I was still living in Lexington during the Hall years and while we had our share of no name teams there was still Indiana, Kansas, Illinois, etc. on the December schedule.

It's been pointed out....fans packed it out when BCG was here. It's the one and done fatigue in combination with the opponents. We've been able to watch all of our games on TV for awhile. UK fans will go to these games, but when you see a team struggling early because they don't know how to play at this level, people are tired of paying out the nose for it. It's just easier to sit at home and watch on TV and when they have developed into a respectable product and the visiting team is worth the $, then fans will be back in there again. We'll see attendance rise around Xmas time no doubt.

For those that have been to games this year with the renovations how is the upper section? Does it make for a better experience?

Good points plus a lot of older fans will recall that not every game was on live TV years ago, which meant that actually going to a game at Rupp was a big deal.

Does everything always go your way? If not I bet you are a complete *******. Sometimes life is not all positive. Sometimes you have to make lemonade out of lemons.

The cheapest standard ticket you can get from the Pacers is usually $11-$13. Lucas Oil Family Night specials are $15-$25 you get a ticket, voucher for a Chick Fil A meal, a Pacers hat, and get to go on the court and shoot a free throw after the game. The most a game will be is $50 for uppers when say AD, Lebron and the Lakers come to town.

A UK vs Lamar game with run you $30, a UK UAB game on a Friday night will run you $40, a UK SEC game will run you $50. You have no chance at getting tix to any of the good games because they instantly sell out as soon as they're available but scalpers somehow always end up with theirs but if you could get them a standard ticket to say UL would be like $150.
Cheaper than I thought. Thanks for the info.

every single year since the NCAA started seeding teams in the NCAAT. We beat duke last year and we would of been a 1 seed and not of had to play auburn...... and Evansville this year will probably keep us from a 1 seed.

Crying’s over, not one complaining thread after another is going to change the loss. I’m over it.

....and fans like you got to see Cal in person and that's all that mattered to you after the Evansville game.

There is a lot of fans that go to games that don't live close to Lexington. Fans that sit near me live in Owensboro.

Yeah, in 75 a December game kept the Hoosiers from back to back national championships and two straight undefeated seasons.
Funny how getting humiliated on your opponents home court, coach getting smacked in the back of the head and a ballistic ex-FBI agent can motivate.

Well, in fairness, their best player breaking his arm also helped.

The IU team we faced in March that year wasn't exactly the same one we'd played in December.

Doesn't really matter does it? If Terry Wilson had not been hurt this year UK might be undefeated. Who knows?

And I'm still waiting for Bob Knight to shake Joe B.'s hand after he lost in 1975

I’m confused, are you saying the Billy G days were better? If so I recommend medication immediately. :)

That's not what I said, so your first sentence was redundant as it's perfectly obvious you're confused, if that's what you gleaned from that post.

Ticket prices for games against crap state need to be waaaay lower. Eliminate the eRupption Zone....it's going to happen in a couple of years anyway. Students don't give a **** and it looks terrible to have all that emptiness in the lower arena. Move 'em up top.
The reluctance to selling alcohol in Rupp is ridiculous. Someone needs to get into Barnhart's ear on this. Maybe the Board will need to get involved and force a change? And finally...atmosphere at Rupp needs a serious injection of F-U-N. You pay all that money to go to a game and sit on your *** because you're afraid someone behind you will have you thrown out for standing. That silliness has to stop too.
Can’t stand up is right. If you pony up for good seats those folks look at you like you are from Mars.
