Word from Sharp & Benning this morning was that there may have been some joking around in the locker room after the game. If true it makes me nervous that some apathy may be setting in.

I know KenPom is great but one thing they do not factor in is Free Throw Defense, from what I have heard, Rutgers is one of the best teams at Free Throw Defense and it really showed last night. They must have watched the MSU film to see how MSU defended the charity stripe.
We need to work on our free throw offense. This whole standing in one spot thing isn’t working.

This feels like Deja Vu of the 2014-15 season. Veteran team with high expectations. Started OK in conference play, but then we lost on the road to a terrible Penn State team and Miles lost the team and ended up losing the last 9 games in a row.

That would be a home run. Lue could also be a huge splash hire.

I don't think Pitino would come here and even if he would, it would be a bad look for us.

Now Chris Beard on the other hand, that guy can flat out coach and build a program. Lubbock is also arguably a tougher place to recruit basketball talent versus Lincoln. Pay him big boy money and bring him to Lincoln. Coaching in the B1G is definitely a major upgrade from Big XII

Beard is a heck of a coach.

Chris Beard is the man, but he's a Texas guy. The only job he'd leave Tech for is the Longhorns, and I'm not sure he'd even take that job right now. He already makes big boy money (3+ million/year).

That was huge. Did you get to watch the game? Their bigs were grown men and they had 3 of them. One of them had been out for 8 games and they lost all 8 of those games. He's a stud. The refs let Rutgers move us in the paint wherever they wanted us to go. We had almost no chance in the paint. I think they had 7-8 blocked shots on top of that. Rutgers has WAY more talent than us off the bench and they used it. They had a couple of kids come off the bench who could drain 3s and score off the dribble in addition to a couple of bigs off the bench.
Yet they get rolled by Minnesota, Purdue and Northwestern. I know those 3 teams aren't sloughs, but in Year 7 we're still seeing the same crappy bball under Tim Miles.

Nebraska was 8.5 favs. That’s about as much of a gimme as you are going to get for a road game in conference. Rutgers just lost at home to.a pretty bad NW team. They have arguably the worst offense in the power 5 conferences and we let them have their way with us in the second half.

But, none of this should be surprising. Nebrasketball never rises to the occasion and Miles historically is piss poor on the road. That’s a huge loss and thus far this is not the consistency Moos was imagining im sure. This team should be in much better position than they are.
I don't disagree about this being a game on paper that we should have won easily. Watching the game and watching what was happening on the court though was a different story. We absolutely can not play with a team that plays as physically as Rutgers did last night IF we're not draining 3s and free throws. Therein lies the problem with our small ball lineup. I don't have an answer other than that we have to do a better job of recruiting and retaining good players. Clearly in my eyes, we don't have enough of them.

Yep, given what we are and how we play we simply must make shots or lose every one of these type games. At Illinois could be a mess too.

Actually he was only out 4 (plus most of the OSU game when he dislocated a knee cap). They did lose all four-. Was not expected to play last night until just before game time.

He should have been gone a few years ago but with good recruiting and ticket sales up, he will be back imo.
