As poorly as Miles is coaching (every year), the shot selection and lack of effort is even more annoying. A good coach would correct this but the players need to be held accountable as well. Very disappointing. Good thing I have nothing else to do in winter or I would give up my season tickets I've held since 1985.

15-0 run before Miles called a timeout.
It's amazing to me how so many college coaches cling to their timeouts as if they are made of gold. It's like they want to hoard them until the end of the game so they can micromanage the last 3-4 possessions - which almost never works, but they have a dry-erase board on the bench and by gawd they're gonna use it!

So much talent, big leads, and then completely forget how to play like a team? What’s worse is it happened to Rutgers. These kids deserve a lot better.

Miles is unable to get Palmer to play winning basketball. Everyone on that team plays for each other, with each other except Palmer. He's always busy playing "me ball". I can pick out so many plays every game where I find myself yelling at him WTF. It's usually on defense of course because he loves the ball in his hands. He clearly frustrates his team mates a lot as well.

Amen, Sean...

Wonder how Tim feels about his great relationship with Moos now???
I was wondering who in the OWH was going to take up Barfknect's mantle as Tim Miles' mouth piece. Looks like its Chris Heady. That "great relationship" is not long for the world regardless of how we finish this year. If we do well and win a tourney game Miles bolts, if we fail to make tourney (which I think is a long shot we don't with how good B1G is) Miles is canned.

Yup, Heady is a company man, or is oblivious, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and give him “company man.”

Bullsh##. That's not discipline. That's a team that got tight and laid an egg from the free throw line. Missed free throws is what beat us and they had a guy shooting 60% from the line drain both of his late. We got pushed around by their bigs and BTW the big that killed us had been out for I think 8 games. I don't know how many people on this board actually watched the whole game, but they have a deep bench and 3 bigs that could start for NU moving Roby to the 4. When the game is called the way it is in the B1G we've got no chance in the paint. Even Roby who has grown in to a strong guy gets moved where ever they want. Rutgers is an improving team that beat OSU at home too. No gimmees in the B1G this year.

do teams usually miss that many lay-ups?
They weren't all traditional layups. They were put backs etc and their bigs were banging us around and swatting shots. Their bigs intimidated us inside and the refs were letting them push us around. I wish we had ONE of their 3 bigs. Some times I wonder if people who post about basketball games even watch the games.

Out rebounded 43-31..
That was huge. Did you get to watch the game? Their bigs were grown men and they had 3 of them. One of them had been out for 8 games and they lost all 8 of those games. He's a stud. The refs let Rutgers move us in the paint wherever they wanted us to go. We had almost no chance in the paint. I think they had 7-8 blocked shots on top of that. Rutgers has WAY more talent than us off the bench and they used it. They had a couple of kids come off the bench who could drain 3s and score off the dribble in addition to a couple of bigs off the bench.

Well, I said a few weeks ago i was going to take a hiatus from nu bb. Haven't watched, haven't posted, haven't missed it.

Dingle, I agree with you. But we don't need a big man. That's yesterday's bb. At least that's what I was told on numerous occasions when I vented my frustrations about our lack of ability to recruit a true big man. Not told that by you. Just preparing you. But maybe it'll be different as maybe people have thrown in the towel.

I now resume my previously imposed nu BB boycott.

Well, if you move Roby to the four what happens to "The Death Lineup"?

The fact is, Roby and Copeland are not post defenders. They do not want to play there and they are not good at it. You make an astute observation that Miles is gambling on the officiating being just right in order for NU to avoid getting both in very quick foul trouble. The officials have to let the kids play enough in order to avoid Roby and Cope getting three fouls each in the first 10 minutes, yet the officials also cannot let things go to the point that those two get manhandled down there.

Our guys got out-worked, out-hustled and out-"want to'd" last night when things weren't going their way. At one point late in the game we had four guys on the free throw land and Rutgers had one. He got the rebound on a miss.

Of course I got to watch the game I was commenting during the game and this problem been going on since the Texas tech game, we don’t have a true center that has been Miles Achilles hill and teams are attaching our middle where we are soft..

Nebraska was 8.5 favs. That’s about as much of a gimme as you are going to get for a road game in conference. Rutgers just lost at home to.a pretty bad NW team. They have arguably the worst offense in the power 5 conferences and we let them have their way with us in the second half.

But, none of this should be surprising. Nebrasketball never rises to the occasion and Miles historically is piss poor on the road. That’s a huge loss and thus far this is not the consistency Moos was imagining im sure. This team should be in much better position than they are.
