Predictions were that NU would win the West. AM was a Heisman candidate. Frost had gotten everyone on the same page. And then yesterday happened. What was supposed to be a "statement" game. Was like fingernails on a chalkboard. Hard to watch. Does that make me less of a fan? Am I too much of a homer?
I was shattered because I was promised the players were bigger, faster, stronger because this S&C staff finally got it right. In all the past fall camps leading up to the first game I had never heard that promise before, so I believed it ;)

I’m sure you get invited to a lot of tailgates.

It's seems you are offended when people discuss the actual game that was just played. Maybe you should just disconnect yourself from the internet for awhile, lest you be offended. Wouldn't want that to happen. I am here for you, Mr. Fan Police.

Here’s my synopsis:

Offense was sloppy, lots of young guys getting their first taste of game action in front of a jammed Memorial Stadium. Lacked rhythm, struggled to run it, Adrian wasn’t as accurate as expected.

Fortunately, football is a 3-phase game and we won 2/3. Defense only allowed scores on short fields, obviously D/ST produced 3 scores.

We won handily, game was never in question.

I don’t think game 1 portends anything of consequence as far as the rest of the season is concerned. We’re 1-0 when last 2 years we don’t win that game.

As for loudmouthed, overreacting ‘fans’ like you, I’m embarrassed of the bs being said about the players and coaches on this board. You are a joke and have lost what little credibility you may have had 2 days ago.

I think the OP has a point. Surely, there has to be something between "We suck!" and "You must not be a real fan. Please off yourself." on the fandom spectrum.

I mean, AM was pretty much meh all day. Frost goes for 4th and 4 early in the game at mid-field. Sounds like stuff we made fun of Oregon for when they kept doing that stupid **** and lost to NU. Farinok looked like he was a true freshman and not dominant like I thought he would be.

I completely agree with you. I think it's a fine line, and I reserve the right to question the thought process of anyone who has decided that our season will be a failure based upon what they saw yesterday. I'm interested in reading any and all discussion of what the hell went wrong and who needs to do better. My last sentence responding to the OP about not wanting to listen to anyone who disagrees with him was over the line. On the flip side, why is anyone who is still optimistic about the season a superfan or a kool aid drinker?

Sorry. I didn't see what you read. I thought the OP was frustrated that talk about the game was being stifled by the pessimists and the sunshine pumpers. He wanted more talk about the game.

Yea, you’re certainly not the guy who called yesterday’s game ‘extremely alarming’

Nope, never would say such a thing

o_O

I never said such a thing. Please, go find a quote. I said we played/executed poorly. You are just hyperventilating over any discussion of our poor play.

In fact, I didn't post at all during the game. Why? Cuz I didn't want to overreact.

I'm happy we won. I thought that we were going to win, despite our poor play.

Apologies, you’d just liked posts saying it was extremely alarming and our play was shocking.

That’s my fault and I’m sorry for putting words in your mouth.

I'd wager about 12,000 of my posts were in Der Husker's game threads and probably 9,000 of those were me over-reacting. Guilty as charged.

What? You over react? NEVER!:) The game got a little more interesting than I would have liked that's for sure. After the last 20 years, I get a little nervous when teams we're supposed to beat make things relatively close.

I'm human. Sometimes I've posted while intoxicated. Sometimes I've been the superfan myself, ask @huskerbaseball13 and @cubsker. We pick sides and then defend, sometimes irrationally. It happens.

I've been here long enough to know the good trolls vs the bad ones. I know who knows their ****. I know who is cut and paste. I know who is the fan police.

I know who posts yoga pants. :D

This “many”.... does that include all the genius people that only show up on game day to say Martinez sucks? I’m fine with disagreement. If you thought no one was going to push back on your nonsense you’re delusional.

Adrian went from a Heisman candidate to noone talking about him because of what's in between his ears overnight. He isn't a leader. Maybe next year.

He had a bad game. He most definitely IS a leader. He oozes leadership. That doesn't mean he can't have a bad game. You can't have a young QB get the kind of pressure he got at times and not have them have "problems between their ears". He'll be fine. Hell veteran NFL QBs have "problems between their ears" when they get hit a few times. QB is really easy to play from the LazyBoy.

And QB should be really easy to play against a team as horrible as Southern Alabama.

I'm sure you could have handled it easily. Personally I would have struggled. Of course I've got a prosthetic hip and need a knee and ankle. I would have given it a shot though if they would have let me. I'm sure you would have done fine.Winking

It isn't true. The fake hip is nowhere near the tool that the real one was but at least it doesn't feel like somebody's sticking me with a butcher knife in the groin anymore. I am just amazed that Bo Jackson played baseball with a prosthetic hip.

I do sometimes dream of jamming over NBA players......so I've got that going for me. I did play RB but that's where any comparison would stop.

Dingle, you're wasting your breath. Unlike Frost and his staff, all the national pundits, "most" of our fans, and any other college football fan with two eyes... Bruce knows that Martinez sucks.

I'm not convinced that "Bruce" is a Husker fan. IF he is, he's entitled to his opinion as far out to the extreme as they are. I try to be respectful of everyone.

I wouldn't have missed Robinson in the end zone when facing no pressure with a clean snap.

I bet noone here complains about their food at a restaurant when they aren't chefs though.

I said he had talent. I just said he doesn't have the makeup of someone who will supplant Frazier, Gill etc as legendary QBs to play here because he doesn't have IT. Since this is college football, QB play is the utmost important thing to have.

People have such thin skin. I'm just asking where I can get a more honest take on the team. Those of you who take offense to this wish puts WAY too much value on being a pure, unwavering fan.

(Incidentally, being honest about our team is much better for it and for the fan base. Consuming stories about how much recruits all love us, Adrian is Heisman bound, and the CFP is a real probability only leads to bitterness when reality sets in.)
Couldn't agree more

IT would be a bad *** roster full of NFL dudes to make everyone around them shine. It’s hard to compare the “it” factor with two different players in two different situations from two different eras.
