NYC big ten alumni had to love the games this week. I can't imagine it would be much more crowded if it were in Chicago or Indy. Do you think they bring it back ever?

I thought Delaney indicated they would come east once every five years. Not necessarily MSG or NYC. The other four would rotate Indy and Chicago. He acknowledged that finishing up a week early was a mistake so unless the Big East changes its venue MSG would seem to be out. I think they already went to DC once. I guess Philly could be an option as well.

I guess every five years is fair given the geographic distribution of the schools. Philly would be within a couple of hours drive of 3 schools, so i can definitely see that as an option if it isn't already used for another tournament.

The Barclays Center should be doable or even the Rock. There are definitely a few options out there.

Big East has Garden locked up until 2025. Maybe Barclays or Prudential Center??

The Pru is awful. It's Newark. No way the B1G plays there.

Barclays is a decent option I think.

Re: The BE--does their contract with MSG include the dates? B1G has a lot of money. I can see them trying to be 'influential' in getting the Tournament at MSG a week later.

I hope they come back soon. The environment was awesome. Fans from all over and different teams. RU had a huge presence last night.

I’d say probably 0%.

MSG is locked into big East til 2025. Doubt B1G moves tourney up again after Delaney’s remarks this week.

Think it’s very probable they return back easy every few years.

Unless AD's have significant change of heart after having the tourney at MSG, it looks like tourney will be East every 5 years per what Delany says. He also said he'd like to have it East every 5 years and hence no guarantee. Tough to have it at MSG since Big East has contract and Delany will not do tourney a week earlier anymore. Thus if East, it ll be Philly or Barclays. It won't be the Rock.

Hey Phil,
Let's see how B1G teams do in NCAA tourney and then we will see what Delaney says about having the B1G tourney a week early. That tune could change of Purdue and or MSU make deep runs and no upsets along the way...

Totally disagree that it was a mistake to go early. They had the college hoops scene on them only for a whole week in NYC. I think they accidentally hit a home run

Newark would be a terrible idea. Barclays is not Manhattan so that still a factor. Philly...that could work but its not NYC. From my memory watching the games last year, didnt seem like DC was that well attended so probably should not be there

It's a really long gap. Michigan might be the hottest team in the nation. You will get rusty and lose mojo not playing in ten days.

It depends on the attendance and media exposure this weekend. I'm guessing both will be very, very good.

Pru was good enough for an NCAA regional.

I think its good for that because its the NCAA tourney but asking Big 10 fans to come to Newark is another issue since the tourney already out East is an issue where many do not like it out here...then forcing Newark on them, dont think that would go over well

With the departure of Syracuse,UConn, and Notre Dame, and the the fewer dates needed while going from a 16 team league to a 10 team league with 5 of the teams being from the mid-west, the BE tournament attendance numbers have been way down. Despite the current contract going to 2025, MSG and the BE might be convinced to the cede(Money talks) the 2nd week tournament slot to the B10.

The sell would be you visit in NYC, then shoot over to Pru for the game. Not entirely out of the question. Still take a good pitch to the B1G for it to happen. Plus, when other teams lose to RU, it is one train stop to their flight out of town.

Hmmm.

When you lay it out that way, I could see it happen sooner than later.

Sorry guys but I don't think our fans would travel well to Philadelphia . I think we had the perfect storm in that it was new york and R U fans showed up. New York is easy for folks because of trains and drive relatively speaking. In addition we played the late game which made it great for people that work and live in city. This does not happen in the city of brotherly love for R U fans.

If it's between Philly and Brooklyn (Barclays) then it's an easier trip for 2/3 of NJ if you have a car.

I know it's football and you have tailgating, but the turnout for the RU - Temple game was really good a few years ago.

I think you would get a great RU showing showing in Philly. Unfortunately you would have to deal with an obnoxious amount of PSU fans.

It sucks the Big East has the Garden locked up until 2025. The BIG tourney at MSG would really catch on after a couple years with all the alumni in the area.

A rotation between MSG and Chicago every year would be perfect.

B1G is booked from 2019-2022 in Indy and Chicago, so I doubt they try to buy the BE out of it.

Maybe once a decade we see it outside of the midwest.

Bring it to the Rock. If that means suburban squids from my own state won't show up. Good!

despite the good games and good crowds that occurred, B1G will never again take the grief and snide comments they had to endure about the week-early and playing second-fiddle to the Big East... They won't be back to The Garden until they can control the schedule....

I don't see Pru/Philly or Barclays really being serious considerations. I can see one game in DC/MD between now and 2025........

Hope those that had a chance - went and enjoyed it... it really was a magical 3 days watching it each night...

I know 7-10 people including myself that would be in philly. Don’t forget about Rutgers fans and alum below 195/exit 7a !

I do think MSG is better , much better ,but I wouldn’t mind the 30 min ride!

Prudential Center would be fine.My first choices would be a re opened Meadowlands or Philadelphia. For some,a few more miles to drive to Philly but bridge is only five dollars and lots of free safe parking around. Brooklyn would be my last choice. Between gas, obscene tolls, and obscene parking,it would be almost a hundred dollars before tickets. Throw in traffic trying to get there and wondering all game if my car still had wheels or was even there,I could do without. Would go to MSG games if Rutgers ran buses from the RAC.

No to Philly. Yes to MSG. Games were sold out today. B1G took over NYC. Big East is kind of an afterthought now.

Maplewood nj to be exact.
Actually in South Orange, right next to Maplewood .
Went to HS in Newark : St Benedict's Prep.
Doubt he'd think the Rock would be a good spot for the B1G Tourney .
Philly, Barkley's or DC would be better for B1G fans to travel to.

For most Rutgers fans, MSG, Newark, or Meadowlands would be easiest to get to.

For other B10 fans, I think Newark is an easier choice than Brooklyn. If you are staying in Manhattan, you have to take a train or PATH to Newark vs subway to Brooklyn (or uber/taxi either way). If you're staying outside Manhattan, you have more hotel choices and less expensive choices in NJ vs Brooklyn. The biggest downside of Newark is perception.

But since the BTT is scheduled for Chicago/Indy for the next 4 years, the earliest it could move east is 2023. And in 2026, MSG will no longer have their current contract with the BE. So the Big Ten can always negotiate a schedule with MSG starting in 2026.
