I just searched Brad Stevens on Wikipedia, it says he is coaching the Celtics until at least the end of 2019. Just wanted to bring this up after the Barrett signing for Duke. Duke has a talented squad this season and is shaping up to have another talented squad for the 2018-2019 season with Jones, Barrett, Reddish, Vrankovich, DeLauier, and possibly (Williamson), throw in O'Connell, White, Goldwire, and Tucker. Does anyone else think, next season could be Coach K's last season, with Brad Stevens ready to take over for the 2019-2020 season if his Celtics do not at least push LeBron and the Cavs to a Game 6 in the next 2 seasons?

No. He just got asked and said "I didn't have knee surgery to retire"

K is the man!

Also, Stevens is about to go on a long run at Boston with LeBron's career winding down and him (James) possibly going to the Western Conference. I mean Boston just won its 11th in a row, without Irving, Horford and Hayward. He's got it rolling in Boston and doesn't have to deal with the NCAA.

When K leaves, the only name on the search list would be Jeff Capel. Only way he’s not our next coach is if he gets another major college job a year before K retires and he doesn’t want to leave the other school after only coaching one year.

I would think K would confide that in him if that were a consideration, but perhaps it's not quite the sure thing so many of us believe. That would leave an awful lot of us scrambling to change our guesses.

A lot of things can change in 3-5 years. Stevens might be tired of the pros, or Collins might blow up.

Lets not push K out the door just yet. The man is BETTER THAN EVER right now.
Yes sir and with all due respect for Brad Stevens, K has forgot more than he knows. Honestly I hope Stevens stays in NBA. We have a solid staff learning beside The Man, and to me it's disrespectful to want someone over these guys that are dedicated to Duke and K.

Why would anyone want to follow Coach K? That is serious pressure.

And why would Brad Stevens want to leave the NBA? Everyone says it, other than job security, the NBA is a cushier life than college. No recruiting trips, no watching hours and hours of terrible high school basketball. No chance Brad comes back to the NCAA.

I don't want to think about K leaving anytime soon....I don't care who we get, in my opinion it's going to be a drop off
I got roasted for making that statement a year of so ago. I still think you are right. It is tough to follow a legend.

Totally agree if K is planning his last year at Duke. Was thinking more about the situations that may force K to hang up the whistle without any notice like health issues or his family pushes him to step down to spend time with the grandkids, children and Mickie.
