Realignment and Bowl Games

With some conferences expanding and some withering on the vine anbd possibly going away, what impact will that have on the 438 bowl games we currently have? Will tie-ins have to be re-evaluated/changed? Will there be more chances of intra-conference bowl games? I can't imagine the number of bowl games will decrease because of the revenue they have the potential to bring in to their host cities.

I could eventually see dang near every team getting into a bowl that is anywhere close to a winning record. And why not, it's TV inventory. Some players will opt out, some won't. Oh, well, it will just be a lead up to the playoff, and I doubt anyone opts out of that.

I would love to see the tie ins go away or at least a total overhaul. Do we really need to see any more of the Citrus/Outback/Gator bowls?

If you lose the tie-ins, I would imagine a lot of the bowls would fold up shop. I mean maybe it might create a free for all with all the teams left out of the playoffs, I don't know. So I figure some will survive and some won't if that happens.

That may be what needs to happen, but again, the bowls still won't be based on merit if that happens. It'll be about who brings the most fans or commands the most TV eyes.

It's a system that does need to be reworked. If nothing else, to standardize the additional practice time teams get. Or else let the teams who don't make bowls have no dead period when it comes to recruiting, so they can get an edge on that December NSD. Or something like that, the intent is to level the playing field while the good teams are practicing.

North Texas lost to Army in Overtime in the 2016 Heart of Dallas Bowl. That's the only loss.
